Battletoads

Watching the AVGN's review of the game brought back some frustrating and fond memories of playing this classic game. I remember constantly getting stuck on that stupid car stage with my dad back in the day. Anyone who can finish that game (especially on two players) without cheats is a gaming god.

By the way, to this day there is no pause beat as catchy as the one in Battletoads.

The pause music is awesome. But the whole 2 player thing is something that's so true yet is something I hadn't really thought about before.

I remember being stuck on that car level for the longest time. I knew one other kid who could beat it, and when I saw him do it I was just in sheer disbelief. I had always thought I was close to the end of the level, then I watched him play and it turned out I was only like 1/10 of the way, lol.

What even comes after the car level?

And yeah, 2-player Battletoads is a nightmare.

A lot of stuff. The car level is nothing compared to some of the stuff ahead. I've managed to beat the car level maybe twice. I used the Game Genie to play through all the others, and even with the Game Genie, a lot of them are impossible to play. Here are some I remember off the top of my head:

-arctic level
-surfing-ish level
-riding on snakes level
-rat race level
-unicycle death level
-water tubes level
-jets in hell level
-scaling a 3Dish tower level
-Dark Queen boss

The car level is so easy if you take the warp.

I only played Double Dragon Battletoad. That was pretty sweet.

I still have that game, working NES and working controllers. I think I will break it out and play it some time. I get stuck in the snake level though. However, I have yet to beat the tunnel with two people.

I was a beast at battletoads. I pretty much memorized the entire game in order to beat it.

We beat it, but never without game genie skipping to where we were after dying.

Yeah that game was great too. It possessed a far more feasible difficulty.

If anyone is up to it, I'm willing to play Battletoads with one of you through netplay with an emu.
