My laptop is broken what the hell

Ok so like one day I turned on my laptop and the desktop background was a fake Windows alert saying I had spyware, but it was obviously fake cause it was a Windows Vista window and I was using XP (and it had icons on top of it)

Well I was like "what the hell" but a second after that it did one of those blue screen messages where it gave an error code

From that point onward it would show that screen within a minute of loading the desktop on any account so I couldn't use my laptop anymore! Oh ****

I ran an AdAware scan in safe mode, and also installed Avast! and ran a full system scan (which took more than 24 hours holy ****). They both found a couple things, but my laptop is still broken. Only now, I don't think it does the BSOD anymore, it just freezes. Totally. Sometimes it freezes at the login page, sometimes at the desktop, sometimes in between. Usually everything stops responding to clicks and if try to click any more it does one of those motherboard beeps and the cursor freezes too.

Also I can't really reformat because I lost my Windows CD many moons ago

yeah, sounds like smitfraud.

also, that bsod error screen, and the restart screen that follows it is actually an elaborate, fake screensaver. i found this out when i had it and i decided to mash the f buttons on the bsod, and i think f8 got me instantly to the account login page of xp right from the fake "bsod".

a wow moment for me right there. also, it ****s up some registry settings so you can't change the screensaver (the changed registry settings remove certain tabs on the display properties window so you cant change it back). however, a simple google will help you with this.

even after installing superantispyware, running adaware and spybot (which didnt do **** btw), i still have one tiny remnant of it as a shortcut in my quicklaunch. whenever i right click it to delete it, my system hangs for the longest time. i just leave it there >.<.

I ran the Malwarebytes scan, and my laptop seems to be working now. I'm still a little wary of it but I'll hop right back here if it goes wrong again

thanks dudes!
