BOO PATS!

But yeah, I'm super pumped. Sunday's quickly become my favorite day of the week. You have an excuse to just sit around all day, and gives you something to do while you do homework.

Hahah, Tom Brady hurt....BWHAHA

I've found that this year I am going to win my fantasy football league specifically because I have Hines Ward and Willie Parker. Together they pretty much make up every TD that the Steelers score.

Ah, fantasy football. I drafted Michael Turner in the fifth round this year. He has almost 200 yards on the ground, a 60+ yard catch and two touchdowns today. I'm going to win my matchup easily despite having started a receiver who's not even playing today.

Hey thanks Redskins for losing the first game of all of football this season. Seriously.

At least Baltimore won.

I like the Bears, but im not very optimistic about this season. I guess after seeing a Superbowl season its hard to get pumped for a team with so many doubts. The only thing they got going for them is their sucky division it seems.

And lucky us we get to open up against the Colts, ugh.

Why do people like sports? I'm not being derogatory, I just want to know what about it appeals to you.

I can't stand watching sports on TV. I enjoyed my high school football games though (I was in marching band, and had to go).
2008-09-07, 2:36 PM #16
BTW, your post implies that you do have some sense of disdain for sports

For me, personally, I enjoy seeing two groups of people who all have the potential for the same ability compete against each other and demonstrate their intelligence, most importantly, along with their physical prowess, over another person. Being strong is only a small part of sports. You have game plans, exploiting weaknesses in other players, to "win". Having a disdain for sports I think is a bit hypocritical if you play any sort of game and like it. I mean, if you don't like football or basketball, whatever. But if you play a ton of video games and such, it's the same basic concept, except sports is on a much more grandiose and realistic level.

For football, I love seeing guys of peak physical condition use their brains and their athletic ability to win a game. I mean, in sports, almost EVERYONE is one the same physical level. It's much more of a battle of intelligence and execution and preparation than anything.

Well we watch them on TV because we all can't go to the games, if that's what you mean. If it we had no obligations and the extra cash, I'm sure almost everyone would prefer to be at the game.

But if you meant why do we enjoy sports. I'm not going to answer that. Try to think outside the box if that's not a rhetorical question.

*shudders*

Cassel surprised me. I've never thought much of him.. but he did a good job. Especially jumping in like that. He definitely was not expecting to play earlier than the end of the 4th quarter. The rest of the team is still pretty good. Not Superbowl contenders anymore..but don't count the pats out.

We will have to watch out for maybe Chargers, Colts and Jets for AFC. Rest I think is manageable.
2008-09-07, 5:18 PM #26
I'd thow the Jags and Steelers in there as well. With Brady out, there is no doubt those two are the equals of the Pats. Not saying the Pats are chopped liver now, but Tom Brady is probably going to go down as one of the greatest QBs in history. That isn't easy to replace.

except for the fatties. i was watching the browns game for 5 minutes today (because i was at someone elses house) and only one of the 4 players who the camera focused on looked to be in "peak" physical condition.

i think you all are secretly gay and want to see the men in tight pants tackle each other.

Lol, I'm not Vinny :)

Nah, but to be specific, I meant that I like seeing the guys who are in peak physical condition compete against those of similar condition (like Terrel Owens vs. Rodney Harrison, if that were to ever happen). Cuz it's in those cases where talent and intelligence come into play

Those guys usually ARE in excellent physical condition, they're HUGE...they just also pack on fat so that they have more weight to throw around where they need it.

If you just hate sports, fine..but how can you like sports and not football?

Basketball is boring.
Baseball is even more boring but I'm American so I like it anyways.
Hockey is cool but, also .. boring. Same old concept... get the ball (puck) in the net.
(ok so they are not boring and I'm not trying to put them down.. but I'm trying to make a point here)
Football on the other hand...opens the sport to a bigger variety. It's also MUCH more team oriented. Much more challenging. Etc. I think it's more of a sport than any other sport.
