Got autographs?
2008-09-13, 8:21 AM #1
I mentioned the subject of autograph collecting in another thread, and I wondered what famous autographs you guys (and gals) had scored over the years?

For me the only autographs I still have is from Victor Wooten from a solo show, and I got all the Flecktones (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones to you living under rocks) to sign an issue of Bass Player with Victor on the cover. Jeff Coffin, the horn player, laughed when he signed because it looked like a pair of boobies.

I used to have Tony Dorsett's autograph (running back for the Dallas Cowboys), but I lost it years and years ago. :saddowns:

I used to save the stubs from every concert I attended. I followed Ben Folds into his hotel lobby after a show, he signed the stub. Then I lost all the stubs (which I conveniently stored in my wallet) when I got the wallet wet for about a 5th time, either from washing or swimming without emptying my pockets, leaving 70% of the stubs completely unreadable, signature included :(

I've only got the autograph of the Finnish hockey superstar Teemu Selänne on some old cap I haven't used in years. never really wanted to wait for hours and hours after shows or whatever for a piece of ink on something.

He's on CSI. He grew up around my area and me and him had the same drama teacher. I met him when he came back and that's how I got his autograph.

I've got an issue of rolling stone with every page of the cover article signed by every member of Dave Matthews Band with the date of the show I was attending. All in all it's 13 shows over about a 3 and a half year period of time.

Other than that, I've got an empire strikes back poster signed by Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford.

Autographs are lame. Besides the fact that I think that, the simple fact that - were I famous - people asking for autographs would receive a headbutt and a kick in the groin because that would be the most annoying thing ever... people constantly asking you to sign something. The individual act is no big deal, but when you multiply it x 100000 it would be so annoying (to me at least)

I have jesus' autograph. anyone want to buy it?

Cut to the chase, just give them a sparta kick and call it a day. Much more satisfying.
