I'm sure most of you have heard of, or hopefully even seen the show. It's fantastic, I've loved it from the very beginning. It's a USA original, so as you can expect, it can be more than campy at times. Bruce Campbell plays one of the sidekicks. This fact alone should send you out in droves to watch this series.

The Season 2 finale aired last night. It was good. It came a bit soon, I think this was maybe the 7th or 8th episode, but the tension has been building for weeks waiting for the episode to run. So much build-up... ONLY TO END IT LIKE THAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

But the new season starts this winter, so hopefully we won't have too long to wait.

Michael Westen is the man.

I've been wanting to see that for a while mostly because of Bruce. Darn you atlantic.
nope.

It's terrible, I barely made it through one episode.

It's awesome, I've just caught up on it. Except I haven't seen the finale yet.

I like burn notice a lot. It's a fun show to watch.

It's like they took every crappy crime show, mixed it with The Shield, and ran it into the ground.

Huh? I think you're missing the point.

It's... not a crime show...

It... is a crime show... because it's about... crime.
2008-09-19, 12:02 PM #12
It isn't anything like The Shield. Or other crime shows.

It's a spy show. About a spy. Doing spy things.

And crime shows are generally quite serious about themselves while Burn Notice is more amusing and fun.
2008-09-19, 12:04 PM #13
The fact that crimes are committed doesn't make it a crime show. Does this make Grandma's Boy a crime movie because they're always smoking pot?

Apparently you haven't watched any said shows or else you'd realize it is.

And it's pretty terrible, just like the rest. Don't get all in a bunch just because someone has the audacity to say a show you like isn't interesting at all to them.
2008-09-19, 12:31 PM #15
I'm "in a bunch" because you compared it to a show which it bears no resemblance to. Might as well say CSI:NY is the same show as Law and Order. they're in the same city so its the same show rite?

But hey man, whatever. For all I know you're not interested in it because it's not a Japanese cartoon.

Much like The Wire is technically in one of the most populated television genres, yet is nothing like anything else in the genre.

But they do bear resemblance, to the point where it's not even worth watching.

For all I know you're interested in it because it's got EXPLOSIONS and GUNS! Sorry, I prefer something a bit more in depth than that in my shows. If you think only Japanese cartoons have that, then, well, I pity you.

Well, yeah. Pretty much. Its also got a hot chick in it.

It's a terrible show. I really really enjoyed it until the second season started when I realized we were never going to figure out anything and it was just the same episode over and over and over and over and over again. Stopped watching after season 2 episode 3.

I really don't understand why everyone is so put off by CM's opinion about this.
2008-09-19, 2:12 PM #24
Probably because his opinion is based off of false information.

coolmatty prefers the serious business pseudo-philosophical melodrama of japanese cartoons.

Nice spin. You should work in government. :v:

Have to put my hand up to much liking Burn Notice, maybe I should start taking notes on how to use a 2L coke bottle as a silencer and how to create fake mail-bombs, but then again maybe I should try not to get arrested by various western governments.

The only downfalls I think are the IRA girl's character is a bit weak, and the possiblity that it might drift towards Lost (ie you will watch 8 series but learn nothing). So far it's on 2-3 series, so has time to salvage itself from the Jerry Bruckheimer death.

Except if you watched more than one episode you'd see that theres a storyline that runs across all the episodes :downswords:

Yeah, I guess the show itself is false information. :downswords:

Get over it, someone doesn't like your show.

No, I mean how, for example, you think it's a crime show. It's not. At all.
Bassoon, n. A brazen instrument into which a fool blows out his brains.

Funny because it sure seemed like it, with the crime and the investigations and such.
2008-09-19, 6:18 PM #31
It's an espionage show!
nope.
2008-09-19, 6:24 PM #32
Whenever I watch it I find the lead actor terribly unconvincing. I want to like the show, and there's a lot about it that I do like, but this is a pretty serious flaw.

I dunno, I think he's a great actor. Although i can see how the comedy in the show might get in the way :P

Also season finale wtf

Most of the filler episodes consist of Michael doing odd jobs for money. Sometimes they're "crime" related. Most of them are not. You'd know this if you watched more than one episode.

I'm not sure what it is. To me he comes off a lot of the time like he's just kind of reading his lines. But it might just be that I haven't watched enough to understand his character. When I get a chance I'm going to try and watch the show from the beginning on Hulu.

I love the show. I'm a few episodes behind because of work, but I've got them on my computer to watch when I get some time.

The best scene in the finale (super spoilers so dont blame me if you read it)

Michael enters with a speeding truck, smashes into the baddies, comes out guns blazing, screaming about justice and god and stuff :D
