Paying $65 for a nine year old game

So I was recently clued in into the game Planescape: Torment. I figured I'd try to pick it up since it seems like a good game. I go up onto Amazon to look for it. Are you ****ing kidding me? Who the hell pays those prices? Those are more than even new releases! Am I missing something? Does the game cure cancer?

It's available on Gametap for 99 cents for the first month. Play it for a month, end your subscription, and voila. Of course, Gametap is horribly buggy for me, but it may work better for you.

System Shock 2 and Planescape Torment go for insane bucks on eBay and I guess Amazon.com is just worse.

Then again, I got SS2 unopened in 2007 for just 4 euros from a Salvation Army shop. M'hm.

Geez, I remember seeing Torment in discount places for several years. It seemed like some kind of classic which you could pick up everywhere for about 9 Euros. I paid something like that years earlier and it was still around for dirt cheap.

Wow, on Amazon.co.uk there's a copy going for £80 ($146). I think I have it lying around here somewhere, that little ***** is going straight to ebay!

Also I paid £30 for a copy of Toonstruck (my disk was old and scratched) but after trying everything I still can't get it to work acceptably and I'm tempted to buy a crappy old computer and install 98 just to play it :-(

Seeing as how the only way to buy the game nowadays is second hand, and that means no money goes to the developers of the game, I personally don't see much reason not to just torrent it. But that's just me.

Yeah, that's the conclusion I've come to. Once the creator is no longer in a position to profit from his work, why artificially make it a limited quantity?

which is why they should either release the game on steam or make it legally free

Well, yeah but they're lazy bureaucrats, so that will never happen.
