Sonic 2 question
2008-09-23, 2:48 PM #1
Does anybody know where I can find the different rewards/losses for the slot machines in the Casino Night levels? GameFAQs doesn't seem to have it, and I want to know if there should be a way to get more than 150 rings (jackpots). Should I be able to get a ridiculous amount of rings from 2 robotniks and 1 BAR?

Thanks!

Probably minus a lot of rings, or something.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

i hated casino night, but in general sonic 2 was fantastic

Sonic & Knuckles > Sonic 2 + Sonic 3 > Sonic Spinball > sonic 1
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

You placed Sonic Spinball above Sonic 1? Are you insane?

Knuckles was so cool.

But watching the cartoon beats all the games. I remember I would wake up early just to watch it (It was on at like 6, wtf)

Damn, I can't remember which level it was. Or which of the games. I know it has a casino-like environment.

You are thinking of Sonic 3's Carnival Zone.

Protip: all you have to do is press up and down over and over, no jumping needed.

Yeah, once I found out the solution many years ago, I facepalm-ed so hard. It doesn't make sense, even in a video game universe.

Argh, I remember that puzzle. Pissed me the hell off. I spent like an entire hour trying to figure out why jumping wasn't working on it. I eventually stumbled upon the answer when I started to notice how pressing up and down was the solution.

I actually beat it once by jumping on it enough with my friend using tails to assist me. I glitched through right at the bottom corner.

Only problem is we ran out of time only 10 seconds later :(

I have vivid memories of having rented the game, gotten to that point and become extraordinarily pissed that I couldn't figure it out before I had to return it. It wasn't until years later that I finally figured it out, and felt the biggest idiot known to man.

are we talking about the good one with good animation, or the crappy one made for 4 year olds with faux japanamation?

I don't know what you're talking about...
But this one was in the early 90s. It would be on fox or something. Looked like a normal cartoon, I dunno.

The "crappy one" as people pointed out was aired on UPN during the weekdays but the "good one" was aired on ABC on saturday mornings. IMO, I preferred the "crappy one" because it was more true to the Genesis games because it was just Sonic and Tails vs Robotnik/Dr. Eggman and his goons where as the "good one" was wwwaaaaayyyyy too dark and serious for Sonic show. The "good one" is more close in theme to Sonic Spinball.

SatAM (Sonic on Saturday Mornings) IMO was FAR better, even if it was darker. Plus, the overall theme of Sonic games as they continued on the Genesis does grow rather dark, with the Death Egg, betrayal (Knuckles), mass destruction, etc. Sonic CD also falls well into the darker theme, with the whole Future set.

The addition of other support characters actually helps the show because it allows a richer plot. The "UPN" one just seemed like some silly rivalry between Robotnik and Sonic with other people caught in the crossfire.

Sonic & Knuckles + Sonic 2 = Perfection.

Also, Super Sonic was probably the most accurately portrayed in Sonic 2. Some games make him 'too' powerful.

I remember years ago when I had sonic 3 + sonic & knuckles and I beat the game as thoroughly as it would allow. Got every emerald, every giant ring... hyper sonic and all that. Hyper Tails was cool too... with his little birds that would fly around. I could beat a boss by just standing there and letting the birds kill him.

I never said that the show was bad or worse than the other one, I just preferred the other one. I believe I read that the SatAM version was canceled after two seasons but the series continued on with the Archie comic book.

There were two other Sonic shows (both anime I think) that also came out. One starred Sonic and his two siblings as rock stars in "Sonic Undergound" and the other more recent one is Sonic X. If there is one show I think we both can agree on is really BBAAAADDDD it's definately Sonic X!

Sonic X was halfway decent until they went into space.

The entire series was an attempt by fairly competent animators to shoehorn the stories of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 into the same continuity as the original Genesis games. The really awful parts of Sonic X are symptomatic of Yuji Naka's mental illnesses rather than anything else.
