This was the sort of episode that makes me understand why some people despise Family Guy. That's probably one of the worst examples of stretching out an unfunny joke waaay too long.

Family guy writing sessions have to go something like this:

Writer -"Crap. Guys we only have enough script for 10 minutes of animation."

Director - "Have we written anything funny yet?"

Writer - "Well... no"

Director - "Ok, take the... 4th thing Peter says and extend it into a gag that runs for a few minutes"

They do that a few times until the gags fill up the remainder of the episode

Yea, I noticed that about midway into season two and stopped liking it then.

Sometimes Family Guy is still clever. Most of the time it's just annoying crap like this, though.

It's not the joke that's funny, it's the fact that they stretch it out beyond its welcome. It's the whole point, you may or may not like it but I'm always entertained by how long they try it for.

i get that. and most of the time its funny... but when its the only "joke" they rely on...
