KOTOR 3 Finally coming?

Not sure if this has been posted. But I think I just wet myself repeatedly.

Quote:
On October 21, at around 2PM Pacific, BioWare and LucasArts will finally reveal whatever the heck they've been working on, as evidenced by Massively's invitation to the event. More than a few signs point the way to the project being an MMO based on Knights of the Old Republic. Massively speculates that the title of the game could be Star Wars: The Old Republic.

I hope it's a new KOTOR, mmo or not.

I hope it's the new KotOR and not an MMO.

Oh joy...just what this world needs, another MMO.

"Why are there 35,125 jedi on this server? There are only 14 scoundrels and 19 soldiers."

Given the progression of KotoR and KotoR 2, this one may be released before it's even started! ;)
Also, I can kill you with my brain.

I also hope that it's not an MMO. However, an Old Republic MMO is the way a Star Wars MMO should be done, because it's the only way to have many Jedi.

Not even then, because there are only hundreds of Jedi, not thousands.

hah

yeah. mass effect certainly does remind me of KotOR.

what they need is to make a KotOR thats mroe like NWN, so that you can create your own modules and play online with friends.

Very much so.

Good thing Bioware is working on this because the inhouse development team of LucasArts seems to be run by incompetent morons who can't grasp the concept of what makes a "good game."

I duspute that, because The Force Unleashed whilst not perfect gameplay wise, had exceptional almost film quality voice acting, story and cutscenes.

Before that it has been largly tripe for some time.

Cutscenes and voice acting don't make a game. Gameplay does. And Force Unleashed's gameplay started off great but the majority of the game was lack luster and some moments that should have been amazing (star destroyer anyone?) were a pain in the *** I'd personally rather forget about.

They left us hanging with the ending from KotOR2. It would be a total dick move if they didn't finish the story.

They didn't finish the story because the game was shoved out the door, not because they wanted to leave a cliffhanger.

Personally, I'd be damned happy if they just fastforwarded a few centuries ahead and we didn't have to hear Revan this, Revan that all the time. Revan was awesome in KotOR, but I just really didn't enjoy the whole 'in Revan's footsteps' from KotOR 2. The Exile had a nifty concept that really wasn't exploited well in my mind, even if Darth Traya was awesome.

Was I the only one who didnt think the Star Destroyer was that hard?.

But yeah there were some awful gameplay decisions. Purge Darktroopers (even though darktroopers shouldnt exist yet) "Force Droids" and the godawfully annoying Final Dark Side Vader Fight .

Targeting was iffy from time to time too.
2008-10-08, 9:42 AM #21
Its not that the Star Destroyer was hard. Its that it was annoying, and what could have easily been one of the greatest moments of Star Wars gaming was ruined by clunkiness and subpar implementation.

The Star Destroyer was hard if you used grip rather than lightning to kill the Tie Fighters, and it wasn't fun in the slightest either way.

Alot of people complained that the controls shown on screen werent right, etc

I didnt find it in any way wrong, it took a while but it was ok.

One of the problems is that the difference between central and up positions on the stick wasn't clear, they could have just used arrows and it would have been much more obvious.

Wow, the whole stardestroyer thing was done in a bad cutscene in the Wii version. :(

Eh they've been talking about the MMO for 2 years now (I thought it was confirmed like 3 times already) so it'd be some kind of a wonder if they decided to make a proper game after all.

Actually, its not been confirmed. Matter of fact, last I read, the folks from Bioware were denying its existance during a Q&A in recent months. As a matter of fact, the author of the article thought there were more likely to be yet another fantasy mmorpg from Bioware than a Star Wars one.

I would actually prefer to have a Star Wars MMO in the style of EVE Online, aka, more space battles and flying and less rampant Jedi overpopulation.

Although to be honest, as long as Jedi isn't an option when starting a character it probably wouldn't turn out too bad.

I don't see how it would be a bad thing to have jedi, if they are divided in proper classes and factions, if the game is set in a proper era for them to run around rampant. Jedi do remain the biggest attraction to Star Wars in the eyes of the general public and fanbase. The thing is that it needs to be done right, not idiotically like it was in SWG or SWG Combat Upgrade.

However, I do agree that an EVE-like MMO could be interesting, or perhaps a combination of both types could make a winning game.
