I can't get past level 3. :(

This is so much harder than the original.

Yeah, I played through it. It's way way wayyyy more difficult than Portal. It's not difficult in the actual solving portion of the puzzles, it's just more difficult in that it's a practice in outright frustration. You need split-second coordination, cat-like reflexes, and pixel-perfect aim. And whenever someone brings up these points on the developer's forum, he simply waves it off as 'You just need to get better noob.' The mod is simply too difficult and the developer's a real ******. I wouldn't really bother, save yourself the pain.

Argh, those kinds of games really annoy me. Guess I'll skip it.

They made a puzzle game hard by turning it into a twitch game. Instead of making harder puzzles. ...

It's a real shame, because the level design and artwork is beautiful. The mapper has real talent, but unfortunately uses it woefully wrong.

I'm around 9 right now. Actually using my x52 for most of it to bypass the KeyUp issues I have with Portal (Source engine problem, not hardware).

There's another Portal mod coming out soon that you guys might like to, Chell's Legend. It's a one man deal, but this guy was picked up by Raven a while back and he's doing this as a side. His other stuff is pretty good, so I've got high hopes for it.

Finishing up, now that I configured a gamepad to play, and I don't see what everybody's *****ing about regarding the difficulty.

I love portal. But I won't download anything story related for it until Valve makes it canon. :P

That being said I love the original Portal so much, I'd try it if it weren't so difficult ;)

Oh yeah! Here's something neat: Still Alive? Info and speculations (which seem so freaking possible) on GlaDOS ;) - Scroll down to see the part I want you to see.

Oh cool, this guy's been posting his stuff on another forum I go to, didn't realize it was part of such a big project

Are you serious? I *still* can't beat level 3 and I consider myself a pretty good gamer.

The Source engine doesn't like my keyboard and doesn't properly release inputs and I managed to beat it fine (wasn't using a gamepad or my joystick yet).

See, this is exactly the controversy in this mod. Some people can beat it easily somehow, while the rest of the players have intense difficulty. The people who have no problems make up the majority of the fanbase, and that's why the mod stays so difficult. I beat the mod too, but I had to cheat in two areas just to get past.

I just finished the mod. Aside from the big room in chamber 19, it really wasn't bad. Early on I was over thinking some of the puzzles, but they worked when you do what would be easy.

The production quality and story line were really good. It's just too bad they couldn't get any real voice actors for the English version.
