So like, A friend is having problems with his computer, and I have no idea to help, so I'm asking here.

Apparently, whenever he starts up SWG, it gets to the "A long time ago blahblah" part, and crashes back to desktop. Supposedly it also does this for AoE, and possibly for other games, as well. he's running Windows XP Professional, with a Radeon 9000, and according to him, all his drivers are updated. I have no idea what's causing the problem, so, I'm asking here. Like... help and stuff. plzkthxbye

[Note: I'm terribly sick right now, so I'm not thinking straight... so I apologize if the above didn't make much sense]

If it was just SWG that was having the problem, I'd tell him to reinstall directx and/or run the full scan, but since it happens in other games too... I donno [http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif]

I'd suggest Yoda's Help Desk. SWG isn't in the list of games tho... weird...

Did he fill out the e-mail form and request technical support? You actually e-mail REAL tech-support people, which is rare. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Hmm. I was having a similar problem with BF1942 and AoM... Ask him if he has a firewall. I know it may sound strange, but I cannot play BF1942 or AoM without COMPLETELY shutting down my firewall. (as in, the program is not running, not just disabling it) After I close the firewall/antivirus software completely, it works flawlessly. Hope that works our for yah... I had to figure it out the hard way, going and closing each program one at a time and seeing what process it was conflicting with...

Same here - I get to the "Long time ago" part and it crashes if my firewall isn't completely shut down.

And I can't play MP BW without it off, either.
