A 2007 CB600F Hornet for those that don't know. I know we have a few motorbike owners here at massassi, brian and rob come to mind.

I'll still have to use public transport in Geneva getting back and forwards to Cern for a few more weeks as I need to plan the ferry/channel tunnel/route down from ~Oxford in the UK, through France and into Switzerland but that shouldn't take more than a few weeks.

Really looking forward to the ride down, I'm planning on avoiding motorways when possible so that I get some better views and also to make the journey more interesting. Can't wait to cross over some of the mountains on the way and later on I'm going to try and ride the "best road in the world" (according to Top Gear) which is south of Davos on the way to Stelvio via Bormio, south Switzerland and into Italy for those that don't know where those places are ;)

I haven't been riding that long, but already motorway journeys on a bike seem pretty dull and although the bike can do 100mph+ (my brother tested it for me...) you really don't want to do that on a prolonged basis I've found.

So...thoughts?

Your dog is possessed. Also I'm incredibly jealous you get to try out that road. So jealous. In fact, I now hate you

ooowww, leave Holly alone, all she ever wants to do is play freak'in ball, seriously I think the only thing going on in her brain is "throw the ball, throw the ball, ..., ..."

but yeah, freaky eyes, she also looks quite podgey in the picture when in fact she runs around like a jack rabbit half the time.

You mission is to take that and get it up to 120 MPH on the motorway/carriageway/highway/freeway/autobahn. I'll try to keep up. No promises though.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Looks cool! I like the gold/yellow thing - and it looks like a beast too.
Have fun with the bike :)

well I am thinking of taking a little detour into germany so I can see what speed I can reach, legally. As for top speed it's already done 110 mph on the UK motorway's courtesy of my brother, I'd guess it would reach 160 mph.

I thought research physicists were meant to be poor wretches saving their pennies for super-noodles not super-bikes!

All my physics teachers own and ride motorcycles (except on rainy days) for some reason.

Maybe doing physics on a daily basis leads to the need to do something...not saying buy a bike but a lot of my lectures and folks I know in the field have/do some form of

1) Extreme sport
2) Motorbike
3) Do crap loads of sport and I mean crap loads...
4) Sports car

Not sure why but I have great respect for Honda as a manufacturer, I've ridden some Suzuki and Kawasaki bikes and didn't really like any of them, well the Kawasaki wasn't bad but felt clunky. My brother has a Suzuki 600 Bandit and it's just a huge beast in comparison to my Hornet and even he agrees, mine is about 50kg lighter has more BHP and is smaller, it is about 7 years younger to ;)

My dad told me he'd pull me or my brother out of the inheritance if we ever got a bike. But it's all in the stock market ... so I mind as well go get one now haha :)

(He's completely serious)
And I went to see them today and he told me I'd mind as well buy one now (since he knows I want one)

I'll be taking pictures don't worry, although don't expect any moving video's or anything, haven't found anywhere decent to mount a camera yet.
