My "s" key = broken on my laptop.
2008-10-12, 11:39 AM #1
Thi i really annoying. The phyical key itelf i till there and it would appear nothing i wrong with it, but it doen't regiter the keytroke when preed. If I hold it down long enough or mah it the "d" key and it down together, ometime it will appear.

Thi happened lowly -- there wa a period of time when it wa getting progreively le reponive. Now it' pretty much dead. I there anything I can do to fix it? Or do I have to rely on an external keyboard for my laptop from now on =_=

This happened to me a while ago, but I have a dell and you can pop new keyboards in.. go for around 10 bucks on ebay.

What you could try: only typing that which need not contain the letter after "r".

Wow that's harder than I thought it was going to be. Can't make any words plural, can't use "is" or "this"...

Yes, I realize that some words do not require putting an "s" at the end, such as "boxen" and "moosen".

Not articulating an S is a minor thing; try omitting a more common symbol; a lowly E.
2008-10-12, 5:09 PM #21
Ok, yknow this isn't actually that hard, particularly 'cause of shortcuts.
nope.
2008-10-12, 5:19 PM #22
You could always, I dunno, keep an s copied so you can paste it when you need it?

I did that with the ä's and ö's in Finnish, when I didn't have the Finnswede keyboard layout.

This is a poor attempt to mock my tech help thread, which by the way was 100% real and not made up. For shame, Pommy, for shame.

You could type with a lisp. Use "th" instead of "s." It would be Maththaththi.

So I'm guessing you don't have a replaceable keyboard like dell computers?
Show us a picture of the button structure maybe someone can think of a way to ghetto rig it.

There's a book called "A Void," which was written entirely without the letter "e." It's a translation of the French "La Disparition," written using the same rules. For some reason your predicament brings this to mind.
