The New Hotmail
2008-10-15, 9:12 PM #1
So.. they made a new hotmail.. again.. and again.. its a royal piece of ****.
Seriously why didnt they just keep the old MSN hotmail for god's sake. WTF.

Well anyway it freezes with opera 9.6, any of you firefox users having this problem? I know the answer is don't use it anymore, but the account I have on there is the one I created as a passport for the Zone to play JK on, so you can imagine what a hassle switching an account of 9 years can be..

But yeah, like I said, any non-IE users having trouble with it as well?

Er, I thought hotmail -> gmail was just the natural progression for, like, everyone. If people still use hotmail they deserve whatever flaming pile of crap they get.

Oh I didn't think gmail supported that veggie. I have the same function with opera but it takes forever to check mail with it.

Is Hotmail the same as Windows Live Mail or whatever it's called now?

Zoho mail is pretty sweet. It can use Google Gears to let you check your e-mail when you're offline. Suck it, Outlook!

After doing research, apparently izy mail isnt free but rather a 30 day trial, then it ceases to work.

And yeah windows live is the bastardized crap version of what used to be hotmail.

Hotmail was never fantastic, and this is coming from someone who has been using it since the "HoTMaiL" days. At least with the "Windows Live" switch they're adding more space and generally trying to improve it.

I only keep my account active for MSN/Xbox Live anyway. It currently has 3252 unread messages, guess what percentage of that is spam.

The only reason I created a hotmail account was back when Yahoo still had ridiculously low filesize limits, and I need to attach something to an email that wouldn't timeout over dialup, would forward it to Yahoo. Now it's just my MSN, haven't looked at the inbox in years.

(and now I use gmail, so nobody yell at me :P)

Meh, I've never had any issues with hotmail. It does what it needs to do for me, and the junk mail filter rarely lets any stinkers through.
2008-10-16, 5:54 AM #16
Why not just make a gmail account (or better yet, an account at your ISP or academic institution) and set hotmail to forward all mail from your hotmail to your new account. Set up an autoresponse for your old address telling people to use your new one if you want.

People STILL use Hotmail?

I guess it isn't surprising when people STILL use Geocities.

Haha HoTMaiL.
I remember when I was a little kid I signed up for a bunch of porn mail on a hotmail account so I could hope some of the previews showed some thing good.
And then when they introduced the new huge file storage capacity of 2 MB I was like WOAH

I still use my hotmail account for msn messenger. I always have and probably always will. I use Gmail for actual e-mail messaging though.

The new hotmail seems somewhat the same layout as it always has been. Works on Opera for me though.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

Now that you've admitted to it, I'm sorry to say that there is no cure for stupid.

There is however a treatment...

Google has a new iGoogle thing. It confused my mom sufficiently that she ended up resetting my Sallie Mae account password for no good reason.
