Compressing videos.

I recorded a demo in FRAPs, and of course, the file is effing huge. How can I compress it? I googled video compression and found a program, Blaze Media Pro, and it doesn't work. Is there something I can use to compress a ~300 MB video file into something decent?

If you're totally suicidal you can take it into windows movie maker and export it again (and set a file size limit).

It's not the greatest but it does the job fairly easily.

Windows Movie Maker is the build in one that should work fine for that you want to do. Just remember in that program you select "Publish video on..." to save the video.

Virtualdub works pretty good, but I'm not certain if the Shareware version leaves a marking logo on your screen afterward. I've heard Winamp also works but I am not certain which is the best. I have used Virtualdub but not in a long time.

I think I might have gotten it. It uploaded on youtube successfully, anyway... Check my showcase thread to see it later. This thread now open for lunacy!

[EDIT: Lulz, it did work, but the software I used adds a HUGE watermark, and completely ruins the video. Where do I get Windows Movie Maker? I know I don't have it.]

Okay, WTF. It's like technology hates me sometimes. Even Windows Movie Maker won't let me compress it. It says some BS like 'unable to save, make sure your source file is still working and you have enough space on your computer.' WRYYY :argh:

Try Virtualdub. Again I am not certain if it leaves a logo watermark.

VirtualDub does the best job IMO, and no, it does not do any watermarking (it's free, why would it).
However, it isn't the easiest program to use.

VirtualDubMod is a bit easier than VirtualDub.

But the easiest of them all is probably AutoGK. It actually uses VirtualDub to encode, just makes it a lot easier. I strongly suggest it. It only does DivX and Xvid encoding (MPEG4), but I think you can use that on YouTube can't ya?
