How come in firefox when I do a Google Image Search and click on the (JPG) thumbnails, sometimes it'll open the image fine and other times it'll treat it like it's not a JPG and ask whether I want to save it or select a program to open it with?

It's not important or anything but it is weird. Are those JPGs secret viruses or what.

Did you know that you can append rars to jpegs, and switch between the two just by changing the extension?

You can do that with several file formats

The reason this happens is they have configured their webserver to force the browser to download instead of viewing when the referral URL is not their own page.

I believe so, probably to application/octet-stream (aka THIS IS A GENERIC BINARY FILE MWAHAHA YOU'LL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DISPLAY THIS)
