A lot of the footage we've seen, but there's some new stuff!

Yeah, apparently Fox just wanted to put the original Batman show on DVD, but WB wouldn't let them.

I just finished reading the graphic novel. All i have to say is: Rorschach is one bad-*** mother****er!

I heard they changed the ending. :argh:

Yeah, this trailer just reminds me how great the story is. The premise of Dr. Manhattan is amazing.

If someone was so powerful on earth that they were, essentially, a god, couldn't they ensure peace by mutual destruction? Peace through ultimate war and domination? Especially a God sympathetic to mankind who could actually feed a town with two loafs of bread.

There's absolutely no reason they would. I disbelieve that. It got canned because of a dumber ending. All they did was take out the island and the pirate story.

Yeah, what a happy world. Let's secretly hate everyone but pretend to get along in case God kicks our ***.

Also, bread is lame. I want steak.

Oh, and as for the ending(s)... they just did a screening and the ending is not the same as the book's ending. Which is odd, because I recall reading Snyder and others saying "The squid is in!"

So maybe they're just saving the "real" ending till the actual premiere, so screeners can't tell everyone about it. Or maybe the really did change the ending, because I read the "new" ending really works with the movie. Something about Ozy persuading Dr. Manhattan to go nuclear.

So who knows.

Loved this story to death.

This movie though, there's just something in these trailers that makes me really nervous.

I remember seeing the first trailer a couple months ago in Theatre saying "One of the most famous comics ever" or some crap like that. I've never heard of it. Nor does anyone I know. What's up with that?

Can someone give me spark notes? Because not knowing what the hell it is, and watching the preview again makes me go WTF
Who's the good guys/bad guys?
2008-10-24, 9:57 AM #12
It said the most celebrated graphic novel of all time, big difference from "the most famous."

Wouldn't that indicate some level of popularity though?
*shrugs* No biggie. It's just that no one in the audience really had a clue what it was. (lots of "what the hell is that" whispering going on)

So is the blue guy a good guy or bad guy?
2008-10-24, 10:12 AM #14
find it. read it. love it.

seriously.

ps- you have PMs mr squirrel.

None of them are really good or bad guys. Most of them are just okay guys, and some of them are just *******s.

And as for you never having heard of it... how many graphic novels/series *have* you heard of? Comics aren't that widely popular.

But anyway, Watchmen is widely regarded as the most revolutionary and influential graphic novel of all time. Go get it.
2008-10-24, 10:59 AM #16
Well I was a Marvel fan as a kid. (Huge Spiderman fan.. I got a buttload of comics from early as the late 60s)
I'd heard of some DC stuff... never watchmen.

And I'm going to go read it :)
2008-10-24, 11:10 AM #17
Well, it wasn't exactly for kids. :)

That video was beautiful. If I recall correctly, flash is now capable of playing h.264. I'm assuming that's what this is... Could be wrong.

Just read the first two chapters.
Last scene in that trailer looks familiar now :)

From what I've gathered so far seems like the rest of the guys just run around with masks and Jon is the only one with powers?
2008-10-24, 2:39 PM #20
I don't really like the look of the guy they cast as Veidt :/

Yup. Veidt is abnormally intelligent though, to the extent that it could be considered his power.

Ahh I recall seeing this trailer on the Spike TV Scream awards.
2008-10-24, 10:58 PM #23
This looks sweet. I only wish I didn't just spoil the comic for myself.

If you mean the spoiler posted above, then I guess yes part of it is spoiled. But if you mean the trailer, then no not really.

Either way its worth a read

I've heard about the hype for this movie but I don't understand it. Is it a novel, or a comic book, or what? If it's either of those, why hasn't it been mentioned in the mainstream media? To me it seems like a movie out of the blue that I know nothing about.

That's what's so awesome about it. It's possibly the most important comic book film ever, but so few people have actually read it.

Also, just noticed you can clearly Dr. Manhattan's penis in this trailer.
