I'm looking for a wireless gamepad to use with my HTPC, which is hooked to an HDTV about seven or eight feet away from the couch. I was going to buy the Saitek P2900 from September's Woot-off since they're $8 a pop + $5 flat rate shipping (so two of them would have cost $21), but unfortunately fell asleep when they came up and missed it. They haven't come up again since :(

Since then, though, I've been researching and it sounds like there are tons of complaints about signal dropping / frustration with these (read the Amazon reviews).

I've recently considered getting just one Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 since it seems to be universally hailed as the "best" PC wireless pad, but the $32 price tag is a bit steep (though if it's good it'd be worth it).

Does anyone have experience with either of these and/or could recommend something? Would the Saitek be worth $13 for one or $21 for two?

P.S. I don't want to get an XBox 360 controller, mainly because it's even more expensive (around $45).

$32 for a wireless controller isnt that bad...

But $13 is better!

Also I'm kicking myself cuz Target had a clearance on the Logitech one a week ago for $20.

I use 1 of my wireless 360 controllers.. but if I were you I'd see if you can find any used, but then you still have to get the $20 wireless adapter

sigh... I just missed a deal for $25 for 360 controller + adapter yesterday.

Anyone have any comment on the two I linked or other ones?

does it *have* to be wireless? cause I have an old wired 360 controller you could have.. my friends dog chewed the cable but I rewired it.

just pay for the ****in 360 controller if you need wireless that badly.

you'll never find one worth a damn for 15-20 bucks.

Yeah you really won't find good quality wireless for under $30. I would say do the X360 controller but the adapter sends it too high. Logitech makes good stuff but I don't like any of their wireless applications. I had a wireless mouse and keyboard set from them (bluetooth) and it lagged enough in games that I went back to using my keyboard from the 90s and bought a nice mouse.

1) You're kind of right
2) You're mostly retarded.

Logitech's MX1000 and better have (for all intents and purposes) no lag. Their bluetooth offerings (MX900, think there was an MX700 variant) weren't great, but they're older than sin. If you buy a generic wireless mouse/keyboard, of course it's gonna blow.

Their wireless controller for the PS2 was excellent though--I'd say maybe if you can find a PS1/2->USB adapter then you could be in good shape.

The MX900 was the Bluetooth variant of the MX700. The MX700 was 900 MHz and had no lag.

>_< thanks for the generosity but yeah it does have to be wireless because my couch is too far from my computer.

I actually have a Logitech LX710 which runs on RF rather than bluetooth, and it has enough input lag for it to be irritating in games (and plus pressing multiple keys simultaneously doesn't register like 50% of the time) ... hence why I'm looking for a controller.

I actually considered getting the PS2 controller + adapter because the adapter is like $2 on Amazon, but I researched and found out that for whatever reason the analog sticks and/or other buttons don't function when used with that adapter.

So right now I'm trying to decide between that Logitech Cordless Rumblepad ($32) or the 360 controller (Amazon has controller + receiver bundle for $45).

PS3 controllers work too. Just a heads up.

A 360 controller would be best though. They work very well with Windows and are pretty durable too. And the wireless is good.

The DPad on the 360 controllers break. I've got two now that will randomly switch to pistol or grenades in Gears of War.

Yeah, there are actually drivers to use that let you enable the bluetooth functionality for a PS3 controller on a PC.
