Wow, what the hell? How does a knock on the door justify 29 rounds?

So in America, ex-convicts are allowed to have AK-47s.

I know you guys don't like gun control, but COME ON.

The article didn't say anything about it being automatic, and I would bet it would have if it was because that is illegal, so that means he pulled the trigger 29 times. That is a bit overkill.
What's 30 bullets going to do that a couple, or even one, won't?
And who fires without looking.

I'm pretty sure they aren't.

I don't about about Podunk Bass-ackwards places out in the sticks, but in CA, if you're ever convicted of a felony, you are never allowed to own a firearm ever again.

Also in CA, any fully-automatic firearm is illegal.

Obviously, "Patrick" is completely bat-**** insane, and should be locked away for a long time.
2008-11-01, 6:27 PM #8
I think the whole country is fully automatic banned.
I also thought that felony thing was the same way.
Perhaps not.. I always thought they were.

Felons aren't allowed to have any firearm - period.

I am!
(My point being - that law doesn't really change anything. You can simply just get a gun anyways. Or have a legal roundabout)

nope.

short answer is no long answer is longer than i want to bother with right now but to make the long answer short... provided your state/local laws don't prevent it you can legally own a fully automatic firearm if you have the cash ($2000 at the cheapest with a $200 transfer tax)
eat right, exercise, die anyway
2008-11-01, 9:09 PM #15
98% chance the firearm used in this story was illegal. Meaning no laws you can pass will prevent this kind of thing.

Except repealing the 2nd amendment and banning guns entirely. If this had happened in Japan, it would've been with a meat cleaver <_<

So you actually think that if you ban guns just altogether, that there will no longer be any guns in the US. You are joking right? Let's take a look at drugs, shall we?

im sorry i come from a foreign country where there are very few assault rifles and far fewer gun crimes i guess im ignorant about the specifics of your laws concerning guns please also excuse my english i am still learning

Hey guess what? I think I prefer living in a place where you don't have to be scared of trick-or-treating children getting shot up with an automatic weapon*.

Also, he wasn't charged with illegally owning a firearm according to the article, which you'd think would be the case if he didn't have it legally. It would actually be a logical conclusion if you look past the fact that I was just trolling.

(*to anyone who wants to correct me and say it wasn't necessarily an automatic weapon: shut up. go argue about the difference between a clip and a magazine or something. nobody cares)

Er no my comment was made to facilitate me mentioning that meat cleaver murders are a big problem in in Japan and has nothing to do with whether I think we should ban guns altogether in order to eliminate them from the US.

(It is however true that because civilian gun ownership is banned i Japan, gun murders are exceedingly rare and murders by other creative means -- especially with various blades -- are far more common). [Edit: although you could argue that this has less to do with the gun-controlling laws and more to do with the people-controlling laws and court system.]

If the government banned and successfully removed all guns, knives, explosives, cars, spoons, forks, and swords you would read about psychotic southerners killing random innocent kids with sharpened candy canes and large books. This has absolutely nothing to do with the gun in question and everything to do with the insane **** holding it.
2008-11-01, 11:04 PM #21
Exactly! People will always find a way to kill other people. Guns take the creativity out of it and make it too easy.*
