Backtalk in EA forums, get banned from ALL your purchased games
2008-11-02, 9:35 AM #1
I am not sure if anyone here knows about this. One of my friends showed it to me today, since a lot of our games are EA branded.

Basically, there's a new forum rule going into place over at EA forums, that if you're caught breaking any forum rules you are immediately banned from not only the forums but every single EA game you purchased. Since everything is tied into the master account that you use to sign into the EA website/forums.

Not that I post on the forums or that many people here do at all, but EA's customer support is absolutely PATHETIC. I'm STILL waiting for the reply to my issue 2 months after I put the ticket in, and after about 5 different e-mails so far from the tech rep he has given me the exact same instructions each time. Even after I tell him what he just told me to do didn't resolve the issue.

I think this is more an issue to get rid of hackers than anything. I mean, look at WOW's forums.. It's filled with trolls that post on their alts all the time, without anything being done. I don't know how many "Nerf Rogue's" thread's I've seen in the last.. oh 2 years now?... Even doing stuff in game doesn't get you this kind of punishment. If you are caught hacking I totally agree with this decision, but only in that case.

No so. The comment was made by a community manager who didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

Are you kidding me? People are whining about ret pallies and arcane mages now? Of all the class-talent combos? I'm glad I got out of that game when I did. Not only do I not like the game, but I hate the people too.

Anyway, I would love it if the EA thing was implemented. It would make me laugh when people were banned for being douches.

Thanks for the update and clarification Yecti, I tried searching for one but couldn't find it.

I haven't checked there since the newest (3.0.2) patch but prior to that I distinctly recall the vast majority of "Nerf _____" threads were about Rogues. I recall always reading them to see the newest complaint because I play a Rogue.

Since you said Ret Pallies, I can see you must be talking about the forums since the 3.0.2 patch, because they got so super beefcake'd up.

I fear it's not just limited to games. But I definitely agree.

True, but it would help the gaming experience when you want to get away from the real life morons.

I think the best example of a moron filled game (besides WoW) would have to be a mmo/3ps game called Gunz. the game contains swords and guns to use, and if you play the game like a twitch shooter using all guns, the community will piss and moan that your a "sprayer" because you continually peg their sword swinging monkey jumping asses. The games title clearly depicts what it is designed for, not swords. It was probably the most frustrating game community I've ever dealt with.

Oni, that's because the majority of "veteran" players (i.e. those who are REALLY into the game) use K-style, which is considerably hard to learn and use effectively, and this mentality has spread across the community; hence, anybody who doesn't use K-style and takes the easy route is either a newb (because he/she hasn't heard of K-style) or a loser (because he/she is not skilled enough to use K-style). And they get pissy when one of the above kill them despite their hours, days, weeks, and years of "training" el oh el.

I stopped playing the game a few years ago after hacking became massively popular and people were running around with uzis that shot rockets at like 16 rockets per second and the game had absolutely zero anti-cheating system.

(Btw fyi to confused readers, K-style refers to a style of playing that evolved out of a glitch in the earlier versions of the game that was made popular by a Korean player -- normally when you dash, you can't do anything until the end of the dash animation, but if you pull out your sword and slash during the dash, the animation is cancelled and you can quickly pull out a gun, blast, then switch back to sword, dash, repeat, etc. You could also "slash cancel" out of other animations like wall jumps, so after a while people were flying around everywhere walking on walls and "slashshotting". It was pretty hard to learn, since your fingers had to be really fast with something like left-left (dash) --> 1 (take out sword) --> mouse click (slash) and hold -> 2 (take out shotgun) --> gun will fire --> 1 (take out sword again) --> repeat all within about half a second.

This style of playing became so popular that the developers of the game supported it and patched future releases not to eliminate the original bug that allowed for it, but rather to optimize the "bug" (now a feature) so that slashshooting was a legitimate and preferred way of fighting.)

Counterstrike can do that to a certain extent, back when I played I had scripts that would do that automatically with the knife when I was switching weapons or doing something like attaching/removing the silencer.

I would argue that CS is pretty much on Par with the amount of morons you run into during games.

Pom, I still fail to see where using a rifle in that game, when factoring in lag and accuracy and trying to shoot "glitching" targets, is easier then jumping around a level with a sword like a monkey.

I never had respect for K-stylers. If they want to do it fine, and if theyre good at it thats cool. But what I can't stand is the ones who piss and moan because you used strategy and common sense to peg them down every time. Using machine guns is just as legitimate as using swords in that game. Unlike most "E-stylers" I also use flash grenades just to really piss them off.

It does give me a good laugh though to throw a few in a leaping ball of 5 jumping monkies and listen to them all whine when they get pegged down with buckshot. =D

Maybe I play too much UT....
