Set pieces are now so epic that your character is irrelevant, contains long boring drawn-out time padding sequences, eliminates the charm and appeal of the original, radical departure from the writing and directing styles of the original, introduces new characters only so they can die and be replaced by your original team for no reason, places so much emphasis on the storyline above and beyond the first game that the transition between the two is awkward, all of the new enemies are irritating but otherwise pointless, the core game mechanics don't work as well due to lack of testing and poor map design, the game feels too generic: the original felt like its own game but the sequel feels like half of the team was trying to make Resident Evil while the other half was trying to make Resistance, they rebalanced the weapons by removing the fun factor from them, and apparently someone who worked on the game thinks that defending yourself from exploding enemies in the dark is fun and that driving a vehicle at high speeds over a collapsing floor is just the most amazing thing ever.

For once I agree with everything Jon'C is saying. Especially the changes to the weapons.

But I'm still enjoying the **** out of the game.

WTF at the crappy final boss fight?

There's a final boss fight?

And just for good measure.

There are plenty of realism issues. Yes, yes, it's all made up - but the game creates this imaginary world with it's own rules. You expect the game to follow those rules. I can accept that the COG is stupid enough to send FOUR GUYS out on these vital missions. I can accept that Baird can fix things like some sort of mechanical savant. I can even accept that they just happen to know how to fly reavers, and that of all the people that vanished, Maria just happens to still be alive, and that a Jane Doe that looks like her (As if she is the only latin woman on Sera, and is married to the only Latin guy) actually turns out to be her.

But why the ****, when I'm playing Co-op, and Marcus is having a chainsaw duel with Scourge, can't I just chainsaw that mother****er in the back? I could just cut him in half right then. Raam was actually believable. You can't get near him, he's got ****ing pet kryll. But Scourge is wide open, begging for a chainsaw up the ***. It's the very first thing I tried when we were fighting him. But instead of actually fighting the ******* we get to run away and shoot rockets at him.

Not to mention that the fight was ridiculously easy. What I really hated though was all of the vehicles . It was annoying in GoW and it is still annoying in GoW2.

Anyone else notice all of the bugs? Both my character and the enemies would constantly get stuck in random places. This was especially annoying when fighting the leviathan in the cavern , where getting stuck is a sure-fire way to get yourself killed.

I just finished hardcore by myself and the AI was pretty unhelpful. I think I'll attempt insane in co-op instead of agonizing in single player. I did enjoy the game, but I just do not think it was as good as the original (and I think Jon'C summed up my sentiments nicely).

On insane, the AI is a hindrance rather than a help. If they go down, they bleed out. And if they die, you lose. They really love to rush right in and start slapping locust, which means instant death for them. Not only that, but despite their impeccable aim, they refuse to actually pull the ****ing trigger. Carmine has a big sniper rifle, but don't expect him to actually shoot anything, ever. Unless it's tickers. He loves sniping tickers.
