I think a helmet is one of the last things you should ever buy over the internets.

If you are willing to wear a replica of Lord Helmet's helmet, I would pay it for you.

Yeah, you shouldn't really buy a helmet on internet. Unless you go try it in a shop first.

I've looked at those Scorpions before, they are nice but a little cheaper. IMO spend a little extra to get a better helmet because, it has your head in it.

I suggest one that the whole front flips up

Beside, your bike is blue, why would you want a red helmet?

Yes, those are fun. Especially if you fall over at fast speed, hit the front on the street, and then when it flies away, the rest of your face. :downswords:

maybe you shouldn't bash a product without trying them, they wouldn't be as highly rated as helmets if they were not tested solidly and loved by their owners.

I've tried. Sure it is nice to flip it up, but i still prefer a solid closed front helmet.

Hate those flip up ones, they look lame. I have a sweet Arai. It was ultra expensive. I'm not sure it was worth it. It looks cool and seems solid. A lot of people like Shoei as well. This might give you some insight, but remember it was written a while ago and the DOT/Snell standards have changed somewhat: http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/gearbox/motorcycle_helmet_review/index.html

I say buy a white plain one, and try to see if you can get a local artist to paint it ultra cool. I knew someone that used to do this, she put on some coat after she was done to protect it.
I don't know if she had to use special paints and then get the special coat thing, but it seems like any artist would be able to do it.

The Scorpions are well-loved at SVRider.com- people have survived impacts with guardrails, semi trucks, etc. They seem to be the favorite over anything else under ~$350. From what I've heard, a Snell-rated helmet is a Snell-rated helmet..once you start paying a lot more, you're paying for lighter weight, lower noise, etc.

Wrong.

The internet is probably the best place to buy a helmet, because on average it's a lot cheaper.

The trick is to go to your local shop and try helmets on to find one that fits really well.

It should be snug. If you can flip your head any one direction and the helmet moves, no matter how cool of a helmet or how cheap it might be it doesn't fit. It can't be tight, I think the trick is that when you try to move it on your head with your hands it should pull lightly on your skin around your forehead, back of the head, and cheeks. If the front of the helmet is squishing your cheeks in making you look like a fish, this is also no good. The strap should fit under your chin, but not close enough to your neck to choke you. If you can pull up on a helmet and it kind of makes you gag a little or causes discomfort, this also is not he helmet for you.

Unfortunately there is no way to tell if a particular helmet on your head is going to be subject to things like high speed lift up or wind roar. Wind roar can and will make you deaf, this isn't a huge problem if you wear ear plugs when you side (You should wear ear plugs regardless of wind roar) High speed lift up is a condition where air moving over your body or the fairing fills the back of the helmet. This air has no place to go, and at high speeds it can start pulling the helmet up. It's incredibly uncomfortable because the strap more or less digs into your chin and this causes you to start sit up straighter. This is a huge problem on a sport bike, where not only is it very uncomfortable to sit straight up the, you become less aerodynamic and will fatigue much faster.

There is little difference between expensive helmets and cheap helmets, you should pick one that fits REALLY WELL rather than what you think looks better. A helmet will only work if it stays on your head right, but it won't make you superman.

I do recommend a helmet with a removable liner, it will cost more but having something you can pull out and wash is REALLY ****ing nice.

Some say he's terrified of ducks, or that he actually has webbed feet. All we know is that he's the stig.
