Anyone who goes to a film school, or knows someone that majors in film, has more than likely had to edit Gunsmoke for one of their classes. In fact going through youtube you can see that many many people have edited the exact same footage. Well last week my class had to edit Gunsmoke, and instead of editing the footage the exact same way people have been editing it for over a decade, I decided to change it up a bit.



Does anyone else have experience with the dreaded Gunsmoke edit? If so, post em if you got em.

So what does this assignment teach? Sequence of events?

Probably would have been a lot better if not the project of SAJN.

The original edit that I made had no cuts in between the hit, and after the class viewed it, the consensus was that the reaction shot makes it better. Let me see if I can dig up my original edit and upload it.

I'd say putting the reactions after the punch would be better

it might be fine with one reaction, but the shot of the second guy (solo with the hat) seems odd. Maybe because it cuts to him so fast.

I thought this was a visual effects project at first so I was insanely upset at the lack of smoke drifting from a hot gun barrel.

Also: I don't get what just happened. All I know is that I spent 1:35 seconds looking at people look at people, .5 seconds of a guy getting punched with crappy editing, and then another 20 seconds of people looking at each other.
