Pixar's WALL-E

Is anyone else a huuuuuge fan of this movie? I've always admired Pixar, but never really got into their movies. Toy Story was neat when I was a Kid, and so was A Bugs Life. Everything after that was just kinda meh... but WALL-E... good lord! I think it's probably the best animated movie I have ever seen, that includes 2d and 3d animations.

Anyone else love the little trash compacter that could?

I thought it was surprisingly good. There were some awesome moments in it.

Like the apple start up sound!
Sneaky sneaks. I'm actually a werewolf. Woof.

Ehhh...I didn't like it nearly as much as their other movies. It just seemed a little too slow and preachy.

I really really enjoyed it, and I don't think it was preachy at all. It's going to get lots and lots of kids thinking about real environmental issues, too.

Disney should be very thankful for Pixar because, judging from the last decade, only thing creative has been from Pixar films.

Pirates of the Carribean was Disney's so I'd say thats not entirely true. Mind you the Pirates went downhill after the first.

I went into the theater really expecting to love it, but in the end I thought it was kind of disappointing. It starts out with a lot of promise, but it runs out of gas and ends up relying too heavily on convention. EVE started out kickass, but got Princess Leia'd when the plot got going.

I did appreciate the credits, though, and the movie's self-conscious references to its sci-fi setting.

Not that it was a bad movie, but it could have been so much better.

Got the 3-disc blu-ray for my boys for Christmas. They are also getting Kung-fu Panda, which was also quite good.

I loved it! It was cute at the same time as it was awesome.

EVE is the best. :P

I personally love the fact that she fleshed out into a more "girly" character, I didn't even know it was girl at first lol

Besides, a kickass chick isn't something I'm fond of.

I'm mostly disappointed with the animated humans. I thought the fat part was pretty funny and made lots of sense, but the mix of live action videos and animated humans was a bad idea. It should have been one or the other, or at least really good animated humans.

Does anyone else think the entire movie was like a mix of HL2 and Portal?
2008-11-21, 10:46 AM #11
I think the BnL videos were a later addition to the film in terms of live action. If you watch the special features on the bonus disc, A LOT of changes were made in the movie... be glad they just made the humans fat, and didnt stick to the alien gelatin blobs we were originally going to be.

I thought it was very charming. Everything I expect from Pixar, who have been my favorite animators since Toy Story.

Finding Nemo was pretty good... but the best? nahh.

loved it! and bought it already.

i liked how it had a moderate environmental message and at the same time gave a nice jab in the rib to large corperations. but at the same time, the main theme of the movie is NOT the environment, its about wall-e.

anyways i really enjoyed it.

It's good but no Barnyard, but that was written by Steve Oedekerk so how could it possible be bad? How? Well/? Yeah I don't know the answer to that question either...... . . . . . ....

Wall-E was spectacular, we just picked up the Blu-Ray and it jumps off the screen. Brilliant film making, one of my favorites of the year as far as I'm concerned. What Pixar did with the characters of Wall-E and Eve; for god's sake I cared more about the two of them then 95% f the characters of any live action film I've seen.

It was a lot better than their other movies.

Pixar movies usually work like this;

Inanimate objects or animals talk OMG! They're probably cute

Fart jokes, potty humor, and slapstick so the kids will love it!

Oldies music so parents will love it too!

Wall-E was a pretty huge departure from the Pixar norm. I salute them from setting aside their money maker formula for just a second to do something that actually had sort of a serious tone.

I really want to get WallE on blu ray... even though i dont have a player.

Finding Nemo is my favorite Pixar movie. Wall-E is probably second.

Wow.. Your loss. Apparently you've never been with a kickass chick. Girls who own big guns and know how to fight are awesome.

The only reason you've ever went out with a kickass chick is because anyone can kick your *** by accident just by shuffling their feet across the ground.

Yeah, but then you notice the part where she does nothing useful for the rest of the movie? Except wear a forest-y dress that the Ewoks happen to have in her size? That's the thing about Leia: she starts out awesome, then by the end of each movie isn't doing much besides being the love interest. Same progression happens across the three movies: ANH she's talking back to Vader, ROTJ she's befriending Ewoks.
2008-11-22, 10:13 AM #26
In ROTJ she's also shooting people like, all the time

I'm not seeing it (not in Wall-E either tbh)

I actually posted the picture because I didn't know what you meant by "Princess Leia'd" lol

That picture made me die on the inside.

Also, I <3 Wall-E and would buy it if I had money, a bluray player, or a house.
