I now have my new computer

After much struggling with the power supply (and replacing the video card that died due to being provided with an inadequet power supply when I first picked up the computer), I finaly have my new computer up and running.

I am now working on reinstalling my games, and putting all my backups together.

AMD phenom 9550 quad core processor 2.20 GHz and 3.25 gig of RAM.

Nvidia Gforce 9800 GT with 512 meg of video ram.

It also has a whole lot of usb ports, ports for a proper 5.1 sound system, an optical out port, and a 500 gig HDD.

So, it should keep me going for quite a while.

should have gotten one of those new intel octacores instead

and why did you go for the 9800 GT when there's the brand new ati radeon hd 5000 deluxe
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Sounds pretty beast like. :)

probably because

1: I dont have any games that would benefit from the most current up to date video card

2: If it is realy new, not many stores in Australia would have them yet. Especialy not those that go and sell at computer markets.

Do those 8 core processors have the same downfall as the quad core processors do when it comes to gaming? The downfall being the lack of proper utilization of avaliable resource.

First of all, there any eight core processors available yet, Kroko was being silly. Second, what the hell are you talking about?

You missed the sarcasm relating to an actual issue I've been reading about on here and other forums concerning quad cores.

Several have said that video gaming does not utilize the full benefit of the quad core processor thus rendering it just as good as a dual core for gaming purposes. I don't know too much about it other then what I've read here and in other computing forums via google slicing.
