2008 has been a ****ty year, but it still needs this thread. Let's take a moment to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor, which brought America into World War II.

Probably the watershed moment of American History. Only 9/11 compares since.

I DECLARE WAR ON LATVIA!
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

America has been at a fork in the road several times.

1. American Civil War(which I could go to a specific moment, but I'll keep it general)
2. Pearl Harbor
3. French and Indian War(again, I could go to a specific point, but I'll keep it general)
4. The Great Depression
5. 9/11

I could make a huge list, but I'll stop there.

And if I was picking one, I'm picking Pearl Harbor.

*Silence.*

I honor those who died in said incident.

-----------------------------------------------------------

But to be fair (and speak my mind) I'd say the bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were worse. :P
