I don't know about you but I would HATE to use one of those. Not only hitting the tips of your fingers against a hard, unmoving surface such as a table top seem uncomfortable but I would have a hard time locating keys without looking down.

I'm not saying it would be the easiest thing to use..I'm just curious as to how it actually works.
woot!

Well it seems like you would always be blocking most of the letters from being displayed with your hands making it a lot harder..
but maybe some kind of distance detection?

I'm guessing that it detects which keys are obscured by fingers and then uses that to determine what buttons you pressed.

There are a few issues with that idea but so long as you only ever moved your fingers to press keys, it would work perfectly I presume.

Yeah..but when you're typing on the top and/or middle rows, the lower rows are obscured...

If the lower rows are obscured at the same time as the upper rows it would just treat it as a keypress on the upper rows.

It uses a damn laser. Like a radar gun. It's not complicated.

No worse than typing on an iPhone :v:

Lol.
I saw a thing on the tv a couple years ago about those. They anticipate them being used in hospitals mostly, cause they're a lot cleaner than regular keyboards, since there's no actual buttons. They just have to wipe down the counter top with disenfectant (which they'd do anyway).
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

It measures the distance between the obstruction (your hand) and the surface on which it's projecting (your desk). If you fat hand it and lay your hands down, it will press every key you touch. If you hover over it and only make contact with the keys you will be able to type. Albeit, slowly and uncomfortably.

Sure sure, you're a donuteater and stuff..
But, i'm not sure if the term radar can be used in this contex, there are devices used for speed measuring that are based on laser, police uses these in some countries. Though radio waves are a lot more common.

Ah, burgerlanders call the laser based one a Ladar..

RADAR = RAdio Detection And Ranging

We have a laser- it's not called a radar, though. :P
