Video game songs (and remixes)

As a side effect of obsessively playing FF6, I've become addicted to this song. I started learning it on the piano for the hell of it (and I haven't played piano for like 10 years :suicide:)

Post other memorable video game songs / remixes.

I always liked the Black Mages' version of the Decisive Battle.

There are about a billion I like, though, from Cave Story to Final Fantasy to Halo to Command and Conquer to Sim City to Pokémon to Doom and more.

Doom E2M8 (Also known as "The Tower of Babel)

I remember this song creeped my out with the whole organ thing going. I knew something bad was about to happen, but no clue what awaited me.

And I liked Ken stage in SFII. For some reason, I play there, I rock it so hard. I'm jamming, slapping people around with dragon punches and hurricane kicks. I'm bobbing my head to the music. Love it so much.
obviously you've never been able to harness the power of cleavage...

Reminds me of this OC Remix. Understandable, really.

From the top of my head:

Hitman series, especially Hitman 2
Deus Ex
Mass Effect

Deus Ex was done by Alexander Brandon, the same guy that did Jazz Jackrabbit 2 and a fair amount of the Unreal music. He's astonishing.

Try Klutz's remixes if you like piano songs. Some beautiful music there.

Sonic, FF, CT, and Castlevania seem to produce the best results.

Ballad of the Wind Fish (Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening)

anything from Batman (NES)

Killer Instinct Opening Theme music (SNES)

Gerudo Valley (Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)

Subterranean Caves (Goldeneye 007)

Midna's Desperate Hour (Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess)

I know it's not out yet, but I think the music from Half Life: Black Mesa is going to win. Opening Theme

Triage at Dawn (Half Life 2)

I have to admit, a lot of 8-bit type music wins me over as well as anything piano/xylaphone-y. There's a bunch on here I didn't include, mostly from the Donkey Kong Country series... damn did I like Rare's music in a lot of games.

Browsing through the YouTube vids you guys posted, I found this chap who has 400+ music clips from older video games posted on YouTube. He also lists the release date, developer/publisher, and the composer's name for each entry. Enjoy.

Not sure this qualifies as a video game song, but I first heard it in a video game (GTA 4), and fell in love with it. I understand less that half the words (it's in Ukranian), but it's really cool IMO.

Chrono Trigger's soundtrack was incredible for the technology available. Chrono Symphonic is my favorite remix of those old tracks.

Xenogears has some awesome music too.

My favorite music is from Castlevania, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, basically everything the deejay dinosaur said above.

I don't like remixes that much though, a lot tend to devolve into a symphony of pitfarting bass synths and wild keytar solos made by nerds who listen to too much Dragonforce and Buckethead

But then again a lot of videogame music starts off that way anyway, like Megaman and Sonic, not to mention Castlevania directly ripped off an Yngwie Malsteen song
