I went drifting in the snow for the first time this weekend.

It was awwwwweesome.

Then we tied a rope to the back of a guy's truck and went skiing. Which was also pretty awesome.

I had hockey practice at 5:30 in the morning during high school and one morning it had rained all night and then got really cold. When we were on our way we were going over a bridge which tilted slightly to the left and we almost slid into a car in the other lane. It was so scary that my friend's mom was crying hysterically because she didn't want to have to drive home after dropping her son off at practice.

At least over there you guys get that often, so people are used to it. Out here in OK, we get it once a year, MAYBE, and people freak out. They don't know how to drive on it at all. It's like bumper cars out there.

On a side note, it is supposed to ice in the next few days here. I just looked at the weather outside and it says that it's 16 degrees F with wind chill bringing it down to 1 degree. Haha, it was 72 degrees yesterday afternoon. That's Oklahoma for you.

I was wondering the same thing. I saw ice for a few seconds, the rest was meters in the dark and a lot of talking. >.<

It's pretty dark, but you should be able to read the gauges and see the road a little.

Tire pressure warning light- one of the sensor's batteries are dead, so it's blinking. I'm not about to spend $60 to get all the tires unmounted to figure out which one it is. :P

With ABS, that's exactly what you're supposed to do. It does the pumping for you.

Hah, yeah here in Texas, if it snows 4-6 inches... EVERYTHING shuts down. 30mph is typical on the interstates...

I just opt to stay home, I've driven in the ice once, and managed to do okay in a manual FWD car, but I definately try not to drive at all.

I'd much rather drive on snow than on ice- fortunately, in my ~150mi trip, I only had that much ice for a few miles.

Yea snow really isnt that bad if you just pay attention. I was driving behind a pickup truck (something like an F-150) one time during a bad snowfall and we both were doing about 15-20mph... and then i realized that he was perpendicular to the road... still going straight. He managed to recover, hit both curbs, and then go straight again. I dont know how the hell he didnt flip!

Oh and this was on a bridge going over another major road so that was cool

you'd think that as a cop you'd pay attention to the road instead of the camera

buhahaha

I wish it was like that up here. I could use a day off of work. We average about 3 feet normally, unless it all melts away in a day due to the areas fluctuant weather.

Yeah... no.

We get it all the time and people STILL don't know how to drive in it. Because people from here are all RETARDED.

Around me you see SUVs facing into the curb all the time when it snows, even with the relatively small snowfall we tend to get. It's priceless how sure they are that the 4wd is magic or something.

There was a small ice storm last winter when I was at school in PA, it was a load of fun in the car. I was careful on the main roads getting home and everything, but 4 wheel tire-spin off the stop sign on the backroads is awesome. And it's fun trying all the rally maneuvers and car control when you're only going 5mph and have the room to screw up.

Either that's a ridiculously steep hill and it's hard to see or those are the absolute worst drivers ever. Or both.

I have to wonder why anyone would even start up their car after having seen that mess at the end of the block.

Maybe they didn't feel comfortable leaving it parked there for someone else to hit, or thought it was going to take the slide on it's own?

This is hardly funny... people could have got seriously hurt. Its not a laughing matter when someone gets hurt, or killed.

Now try doing that in a rear-wheel drive vehicle that weighs less than half a ton.

Also it's seven feet tall. And the center of gravity is three feet off the ground. And over the front wheels, not the rear ones.

Now, when you see your mailman coming through the snow with SUVs sliding all around him, and he's like 'Whatever', RESPECT. Those ****ers can drive.

What do your mailmen drive!?

I may be able to relate somewhat, though- Crown Vics aren't exactly snowmobiles, either, but somehow we manage. :P

In some instances speeding up can save you, if you have 4WD anyways. Once I was sliding down the bottom part of a hill and I was about to slide into a car on the right side of the road. My brakes were making me slide right into the car but I turned the wheel left and touched the gas which caused me to drive around the car instead of sliding into it.

Snow tires help a lot in snow. I've never driven with chains, but they would dig into the ice a bit and give you some additional traction. You're not driving very fast with them, though!
