Phone Won't Charge

I'm not much a techie so I don't know the specifics about my phone.

I have the ENV2 and every time I try charging it, nothing happens. I tried using a different charger but still no dice.

Maybe I should get a new battery?

I used to have to wiggle the charger around on my old, old phone. It got so bad that it wouldn't charge unless it was at a certain angle and I had to prop it against books or something in a certain way if I wanted to have it charge all night.

So try wiggling it around?

That's what she said?

Bring it into verizon granted you have insurance on it. Its a problem in your port most likely. My voyager is having port issues, but I'm probably bagging it for an iphone soon anyway so meh.

....I can get it swapped out and sell you the new one if you want though....

Onimusha hit the nail in the head.
But I reasoned that after reading sugarless5's post.
I got a replacement so it's all good.

I, too, suggest wiggling it.

It worked for my cell phone. Not all angles work for some strange reason.

That strange reason is called "quality control".

The problem was my port.
I think it got worn out or something like that.

ah well he had a far more eloquent way of putting it than I did, but I'm glad it worked out

that happened to my Zune... something happened to the port and I couldn't charge or sync till I sent it in for a new one.

The month or two where I had to use itunes and my friend ipod was very, very sad.

I gotta disagree. 9 out of 10 times a phone won't charge, its cause the battery's damaged. However, there's a number of other things that could be wrong, and wireless phones are too complex to troubleshoot on your own. If you have had the phone less than a year, it is almost certainly under warrenty (regardless of whether or not you have insurance). Call your provider, ask them what the warrenty policy is. They'll probably want to run you through some troubleshooting steps which will likely be things you've already done and useless, then have you send the phone back in to them, and they will then repair or replace it.

(You also have the option of taking the phone in to a store to do this process.)

Also, ask about a loaner phone while yours is out of commission. Many providers will do this for no charge (and if that's not their policy, they may make an exception anyway if you push the issue).

Alternately, you could try and replace the battery and see if that fixes the problem (if you take it to a store, they'll probably do this as one of the first steps of troubleshooting). Keep in mind though, the battery wil lcost $30 (best case) to $80 (worst case), and even if you have insurance, it won't cover a battery.

On another note, equipment protection is a total waste of money. It does not cover the most common type of damage (water damage), is terribly expensive, and has a high deductible. You're much better off if you break or lose your phone to go out and buy a new phone pre-paid or on ebay or something.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

It defenitely wouldn't be a battery. If it was a battery the phone would charge fine, and quickly die.

Besides the OP said I was right so it can't be too rare. I've had verizon phones all my life, specificially LG's and that is a very common problem amongst LG phones.

Umm.. Sometimes they charge and die, other times they won't charge at all. It depends. And, its very common for Verizon (aka CDMA) phones especially to have battery problems because they are so much more battery intensive than GSM phones.

I'm not saying you're wrong necessarily.. just that you might be. :p
