I gotta disagree. 9 out of 10 times a phone won't charge, its cause the battery's damaged. However, there's a number of other things that could be wrong, and wireless phones are too complex to troubleshoot on your own. If you have had the phone less than a year, it is almost certainly under warrenty (regardless of whether or not you have insurance). Call your provider, ask them what the warrenty policy is. They'll probably want to run you through some troubleshooting steps which will likely be things you've already done and useless, then have you send the phone back in to them, and they will then repair or replace it.
(You also have the option of taking the phone in to a store to do this process.)
Also, ask about a loaner phone while yours is out of commission. Many providers will do this for no charge (and if that's not their policy, they may make an exception anyway if you push the issue).
Alternately, you could try and replace the battery and see if that fixes the problem (if you take it to a store, they'll probably do this as one of the first steps of troubleshooting). Keep in mind though, the battery wil lcost $30 (best case) to $80 (worst case), and even if you have insurance, it won't cover a battery.
On another note, equipment protection is a total waste of money. It does not cover the most common type of damage (water damage), is terribly expensive, and has a high deductible. You're much better off if you break or lose your phone to go out and buy a new phone pre-paid or on ebay or something.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
