Bla bla bla...

Ah, someone in a worse position than myself. My birthday is January 1st.

For Christmas I got:

  • $15 iTunes card
  • The Rippingtons - Weekend in Monaco
  • an All-in-One-type tool kit to carry around with my bass gear
  • the Clone Wars DVD
  • and a student of mine got me the Clone Wars movie poster

The coolest thing wasn't really a Christmas gift, but I got it last week - The ex-wife of a friend is moving to a different state and didn't want to take her whole DVD collection. She gave some DVDs to her ex and he gave them to me: seasons 1 - 9 of Stargate SG-1, season 1 of Stargate: Atlantis, and season 1 of Andromeda (which I don't really like, but hey, I'll watch it anyway). I already had Seasons 1-5 of SG-1, so I gave those to another friend that recently got into Stargate: Atlantis.

Oh yeah, my mom gave me $1000 for debt reduction. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice!

Most expensive and funnest gift:

It basically takes my telephoto lens for my SLR and multiplies it by 1.4 times, letting me zoom out further *cheer*.

I also got:
LittleBigPlanet
Gears 2
The Dark Knight Blueray
A new chair for my room (was sitting on one of those folding metal chairs...got uncomfortable after a year, my back hurt)
about 100 bucks in checks.
A few odds and ends (restaurant gift cards, etc)

I didn't ask for anything, didn't get anything, didn't give anything material. I didn't celebrate christmas because I'm not religious and I hate traditions. And I hate all these farking stores milking people to buy all this crap for a day that is NOT supposed to be about things.

I bet if you could measure happiness, the effect of the material aspects of christmas would be a net drain.
