I want to play a HITMAN game but I never tried one before. Which should I go into? I heard Blood Money is a good first choice, and some people are suggesting to stay away from the 1st game.

Personally, I think it would be best if you played them in chronological order. This is because each new game add new features and when you go back to play an older one in the series you'll begin miss some of those features.

For example, Blood Money introduces the concept of using human shields. That may not sound like much, but by using human shields you can non-lethally knock out an adversary. In Hitman 2 and 3 (Contracts), you have to use anesthetics if you want to render a target unconscious.

You can knock targerts out with your gun in every Hitman.

Get up close behind someone with a gun, you'll club them.
2008-12-26, 6:08 PM #5
They probably say blood money is a good first choice so you won't be disappointed by it after playing the previous ones.
But with the exception of blood money, the Hitman series does get better each installment.

Me..? Nope. I might be the unofficial dealposter, though. I've been told to stop posting 'cause people spend money. :smith:

That's pretty hot :o

Even though I already have Bioshock and Portal.

Even if Steam did force Europeans to use the Euro, thus making everything 20% more expensive :\

... and even then, the Unreal pack is now 19.99 yay /gets

It's likely I'll get Mass Effect. Bioshock is tempting but the demo crashed on me so many times but it is only $5.

I heard there was an issue with id games and CD keys where people were given invalid ones. Although I guess it's not hard to obtain some on your own but seems like an issue if you want to play online.

I'm getting
- Titan's Quest Gold
- Deus Ex because I feel bad for having never played it
- Bioshock because it's 5$ and I heard it was good
- X3 Terran Conflict

Is Civ 4 worth it? I got the demo once but it was limited to 100 turns and I couldn't figure it out.
2008-12-27, 3:01 PM #20

  • Bioshock
  • UT3

Just picked up the halflife episode pack for $17, not too shabby for 3 games.

Great, I wish I knew that. I think I recall seeing him hit someone with the butt of the gun behind, but I was afraid I would end up shooting the target by mistake.

When you get up close your attack command (displayed at the top of the screen if I remember right) changes to a knock out command.

I'm pondering getting Bioshock... I already have it for 360, but it's only $5...
2008-12-27, 6:27 PM #26
You seriously shouldn't need to knock people out that often any ways.
2008-12-27, 6:30 PM #27
I bought UT3 and the X-COM package.

Portal is only $5 too.
2008-12-28, 12:30 AM #32
So I make the purchase...then it says that an error occurred and my order was not successful. I then tried to purchase through the Steam program rather than the website, at which time it told me that I already own the games. WTF?

Did you get charged? Can you install the games?

I just got Mass Effect and Flatout 1&2 for $34.

I don't think I was charged...but they installed fine. I haven't tried running them yet, though.

If the games were designed to use CD keys originally and not Steam's authentication, then yes. Some do have CD keys. Steam does a pretty good job of entering them automatically, though.
