Even as a loyal and devout Chargers fan, this is simply retarded on the Broncos. This is right up there with us firing Marty and getting NORV ****ING TURNER as our replacement. Enjoy ****tiness for the next 5-10y.

Coaches who've lost their job so far:
  • Shanahan
  • Crennel
  • Mangenius (Mangini)
  • Marinelli (this was to be expected)
So, NFL fans? Who's next on the chopping block?

Poor Shanahan. I'm sure there's hard times ahead for him, what with his millions and whatnot.

Oh Shanahan probably has more than enough to live very comfortably for the remainder of his years.

It's just the silliness of it. The NFL is going down a dangerous path. A NFL head coach is becoming a revolving door job unless you take the team to the playoffs every year and win a championship every 5. Otherwise you're gone despite your season record.

That is pretty silly, but it's not like the rest of society isn't becoming the same way.

Even as a loyal and devout Broncos fan, this is completely ****ing stupid. Cutler's pissed too. Shanahan will be hired by someone about five minutes after he decides he still wants to coach next year.

Unless we can somehow get Bill Cowher, this will be a complete disaster. Even if we do, it's retarded. There's one legitimate criticism of Shanahan -- he's been very hit-or-miss on his personnel decisions. The solution to that was to hire a real general manager, not to fire Shanahan altogether.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.

Hopefully the Eagles will not do something stupid like trying to cut McNabb.

I was absolutely shocked when I heard this news; although it's amusing to me because last week I was just thinking out loud to myself, and wondered if Shanahan would ever be fired. I realize the team blew the division lead in grand fashion, but from what I recall they weren't supposed to be that good in the first place this year, and had 8 or so RBs on IR. Doesn't see like this should be the season he takes the hit for. If anything, they should have kept him, and removed him from the GM position...

Yeah, I was pretty shocked as well. It's just that of all the teams this year (lions, browns, etc) that just sucked, the thought that Shanahan would get fired along with those guys was surprising to say the least.

To Denver, I mean, I don't get it right now. You fire a coach when you can get someone better. Who is better? Do you really want to hire Marinelli or Mangini? Over Shanahan?

Cutler is pissed too, and I don't think that's a good thing for the Broncos. Apparently a lot of players share in the sentiment. To me, the season was lost by the players, not the coach, and I think the players realize that Shanahan shouldn't take the hit for it.
