Tell Vin not to log into his massassi account under his name. If I see it log in on massassi, I'll let him know what the IP address is. Might get lucky that way :/

Does anyone find it funny in that Vin said he had Brinks home security installed and the manner of forced entry seems identical to what was displayed in the Brinks home security adverts, which they claimed such a thing could be prevented? :v:

Sorry Vin.

The crook will be in for a big surprise when he turns on the computer and finds 118 gigs of gay porn.

Wait .. kicked door down and went straight for the PC ... Was he there when it happened? That'd be pathetic.

But yea, that sucks. Was it an expensive one?

Sorry Vin.

The thief in the commercial got scared of the ringing alarm. I don't think Vin's thief did.

And that's terrible to hear Vin. I hope he didn't steal anything else.

****ing pricks

I really wish that if i ever get anything stolen from me, I am there, and I can go medieval on his ***. I won't report him to the authorities until I'm done with him.

Oops I logged in. This is my parents IP, btw.

So... I need a new computer. Suggestions of what to get?

Here's what I had:
Intel Quadcore 6600 ($279.99)
500GB hard drive ($119.99)
Asus 8800GT ($279.99)
DVD Burner ($31.99)
DFI Infinity 975x mobo ($99.99)
4GB Ram ($113.98)
22" widescreen LCD monitor ($229.99)
Case and PSU (~$100)

So that's almost $1300 in stuff I need to replace... and of course my parents didn't have property insurance on the house, so I get to pay for it all. Unless you want to help... (coughdonationsplzcough)

I would like to get a slightly better pc though, but I don't really follow computer tech so I don't know what's good right now. Suggestions would be nice.

Also, what do crooks do with stolen computers? Should I be checking every pawn shop in the city?

I'm used to it. That house has been broken into 8 times since my parents owned it... I had my N64 stolen 5 days after I got it for my birthday. :(

No, I was at work when it happened. The alarm company called my cell first (which I can't answer at work), and then they called my work... the motion sensors went off in the living room and the kitchen, so I had them send the police. Still gave them enough time to grab my computer (they even took the power cords for it), crawl back through the hole in the door and load it into the car... which pisses me off, because if Brinks or the PPD had acted faster I might still have my pc. :(

Oh and it turns out my front door was made of two flimsy sheets of wood and cardboard. He didn't kick it open (in fact it was still bolted and shut), he just kicked a hole big enough to get through.

I vote for better security before the computer.
The guy knows he can get in your house and get away with it now. He'll probably be back in month after you get a new computer and take it again.
edit-Oh that sucks. yea, the damn phone calls delay the police :(

I'm moving. And I got a new door. The kind you can't kick through.

you should dig a moat and fill it with alligators, and put a draw bridge in. im almost certain any neighbors would be cool with it, a moat with gators should make the entire neighborhoods property value go way up due to pure awesomeness!

They'll just kick it so hard the frame comes out, or they'll pick the lock.

Deadbolts are RIDICULOUSLY easy to pick, especially if it's only a single sided key. I wish they'd do them more like they do with new car keys, where the side that works the locky stuff is actually a CNC modeled curvy magig on it that is way more likely to not have a cousin that will work on it and way harder to pick.

Someone knew it was there, IE, be more careful of who you show **** to.

When you get a new computer, drill a large hole in two sides of the case that the power supply or motherboard doesn't occupy it, and put a cable lock through it and either lock it to something REALLY ****ING HEAVY, or lock it to the floor. (IE, drill two holes in your floor and run the cable through it.

The idea is that nothing is totally thiefproof, you just need to consume as much as their valuable *******ry time as you can. For examble, you can pry open even the most expensive motorcycle locks. Ones that are guaranteed to be impossible to break or pry apart. The kind that you can shoot with a gun and they won't break.

Also, get a really mean dog. And train it to bite nads.

After all, nothing will stop a thief if he's determined to get it. As Rob said, just make it as inconvenient as possible so that they either get caught or run out determination. There's not many locks a theif can't break with a crowbar, a hammer, and a lock cutter.

yes... if you haven't filed a police report do so now

and pawn shops hold stuff like that for a length of time so your PC wouldn't be out in the shop it would be in the back

we had a generator stolen not too long ago and the cops said it was in a pawn shop we went to that pawn shop and identified it then after waiting for the police to sign it out we got it back

call all the area pawn shops and ask.. the police will probably be doing the same thing

keep an eye on the newspapers too
eat right, exercise, die anyway

Makes me think of the joke that Dane Cook made about people kicking in the door. lol

Sorry to hear about it man, I've never had anyone break in, but I do hate it when police take too long to react.

Yeah, I've been checking craigslist, nothing yet though. I guess I'll start calling pawn shops tomorrow. Are they open sundays?

And the police don't give a ****. The last time my house was broken into, they left a bottle of brisk with a nice fingerprint on it. The cop didn't care. This time, there was a pair of shoes I've never seen before sitting right on my computer chair. Cops said to throw em away. :(
