2009 is awesome

It's still nylon.

Yeah, but you can hit it with the claw end of a hammer and it'll just bounce off.

Haha, Rob's dumb. Nylons are a family of polymers that include, among many other things, aramids like kevlar. However, the brand name Nylon you typically think of, like what's used for common rope or women's stockings, is NOT at all the same as kevlar. Kevlar is an aramid, it has a much higher tensile strength, melting point, et al. It's not as if you can take a bunch of women's stockings and melt them down into a flak jacket.

It's woven differently, urkadurr.

But it's still going to melt if I cover it in a fine magnesium powder and set it ablaze.

Oh 2009, you just don't stop!

My uncle found a TW200 frame with title for $100. He's going to sign it over to me, and I'm just going to stick all my parts on it and have a motorcycle that insures cheaper, is titled in my name (current TW200 has no title), and I can save a little money on gas here and there when it's warm.

Did you even read my post? It's not just a different weave, it's a different chemical compound. Aramides are much stronger along the axis of the fiber, it's what gives them such high tensile strength.

Yes, no doubt.

It's still nylon.

It's in the same family but it is chemically different than common nylon.
