Minor Fruit Allergy

Anyone else have this?
http://health.usnews.com/articles/health/2007/12/11/a-pesky-allergy-to-fruit-and-vegetables.html

A few years back one-by-one my favorite fruits started causing my mouth to itch and mildly swell. It's gotten to the point where I eat almost no fruit that isn't part of some cooked dish.

I had heard it might be a protein connection between the different fruits and my tree-pollen allergy, but I'd never seen it spelled out in an article. Good to know it'll probably never get to the close-the-throat allergy level, but it's still an annoyance. Example: I wind up having to get sushi sans any vegetable filler to avoid the itching. I'm eating raw meat, and it's the vegetables I've become worried about.

i have a mild pineapple allergy. i get the swelling and itching you describe when eating it. but only fresh pineapple. canned stuff i could eat and eat and eat. nom nom.

occasionally, apples will make my mouth go dry. not something i've experienced with any other fruit.

I'm pretty much the same way with bananas. Can't eat them raw, they make my throat itch for about an hour or so afterwards. Cooked they seem to be fine though.

I get it sometimes.
It makes me want to scratch the inside of my mouth.

No food allergies, huzzah.

Just pet dandruff (mainly cats) and some molds.

No food allergies here, although occasionally certain tomato pastes will make my mouth a little tender. I thought that was normal though.

Nobody cares that you can't suck on bananas anymore.

Freelancer : Tomato paste should not be ingested directly. It is somewhat more acidic than plain raw tomatoes. I can't think of anything you use it in where it isn't baked or mixed with something sugary. Still, though. It shouldn't make your mouth tender. Freak.

Supposedly allergic to peaches according to some allergy test I had when I was very young. Never dared to test it.

I'm allergic to something. I don't know what.

Makes my face swell up. Happens a time or two a year. I should probably get that tested.

I just thought it was interesting that it's apparently not a fruit allergy so much as it's my immune system confusing the Fruit's proteins with tree pollen that I'm actually allergic to.
