I feel like ****.

It takes me a while before I can fully awaken from it. That's why I stay up so late.

Yeah, I can't do naps.

Usually I feel great, but if I take a nap after having pulled an all-nighter the night before (which happens occasionally due to work) I'll wake up feeling like a zombie. Full on lead-limb and dead mind.
2009-01-10, 4:39 AM #8
It's because you aren't getting the deep REM sleepomajob stuff you need.

Oh, and it tends to **** up your schedule.

Me personally, during school season every day is nap day because I only have time for like 4-5 hours of sleep.

Every time I have work (so pretty much 2001-2003 and now 2008-?) I tend to try take naps but they usually either fail or I succeed in having one but then I wake up to an insanely dirty rotten dead horrible taste in my mouth.

Except for last New Year's when i had this horrible headache despite not drinking anything so I took a nap and the headache was gone. Yay!

You like your sleep eh? Do you enjoy being unconscious for 6 hours? Do you remember that time? I thought not.
What you’re enjoying is (1) cuddling into bed before sleep and (2) feeling that you got enough sleep.
You need to understand first that you feel just FINE on polyphasic sleep. People look at me when I explain all this to them and they say ‘but you don’t look tired’. That’s the point. Get the point. Please.
As for that comfortable feeling of sleep, I just happen to do it 6 times a day. It’s great. I get a timeout 6 times as opposed to one

I keep meaning to try this. But its difficult to work it around a work schedule.

I hate naps. I wake up feeling even more tired than I did when I went to sleep.
2009-01-10, 7:57 AM #16
I always feel good, but if it was a long nap then it does take me a long time to get moving.

Most of the time if I am taking a nap it wasnt a choice, just simple exhaustion.

Naps just don't do it for me. Once I'm awake I can't go back to sleep for a while.

Naps are dumb. I might try out this polysleep thing though.

I can't take naps during day, it'll make me stay awake all night.

Naps are awesome. I rarely take them, but when I do they are cool. I feel so refreshed and reenergized.
Especially after some hard work. Eat something yummy, turn on some music and sit back and pass out.

I don't think I'd ever had a nap between being a small child and sometime last year at uni and yes I feel awful afterwards.
nope.

I don't take naps, but I do sleep in until 1 or 2. I feel like *** afterwards, usually.
DO NOT WANT.

I feel beyond terrible when I nap. I'm usually wide-awake and functional 5 minutes after I get up in the morning, but I'll feel groggy for hours after a nap, and usually also nauseous and headachy.

Speaking of nap/sleep, anyone ever get "paralyzed" ?

Once in a while when I wake up I can't move or breathe for a short while.

I've heard that it's not good.

(Edit, oh, ok weird, I googled it. It first started to happen when I was heavily into meditation and was attempting an OOBE. But I don't have the scary hallucinations to go with it, as if being paralyzed wasn't scary enough)

Isn't that something to do with Lucid Dreams?
nope.

Sleep paralysis isn't directly tied to it, but it's usually the case behind a lot of people thinking they've been visited by aliens.

No I always feel like **** after taking a nap. (well not always, I guess, but often)

What I like to do if I'm really tired in the middle of the day is lay down and snuggle in, almost pretend I'm about to go to sleep, but, since it takes me a while to fall asleep anyway, don't actually fall asleep. It's good when you only have an hour or 1.5 hours.

That would be really, really weird if you weren't a girl.

No, it's still weird.
2009-01-10, 2:11 PM #30
hahaha whatever you say, it saves me when I get to the mid semester no sleep rush but still have to be functional later in the day :P

Usually I get 4-5 hours of sleep per night and can make it through most days without napping. On the days that I do nap, I do so for 20-45 minutes depending on how I'm feeling and when I wake up from them I'm refreshed and wide awake for the rest of the day. I can't recall ever having a problem with napping.
2009-01-10, 3:37 PM #32
I don't nap.

I kind of hate sleeping during the day, too. Even if I've pulled an all-nighter, I'll stumble around shattered until normal bed time.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

If I do that, I'll end up asleep in short order.. :P

If it's 15-20 minutes on the couch or with my feet up on my desk a nap can feel great. But if I actually get in bed for an hour or more in the afternoon and fall asleep I'll get up feeling like there's glue stuck between my brain and my forehead. I can't see well or think clearly for the rest of the day.

Another type of nap is awesome when it happens - micro-naps of like 3 seconds. Does anyone get those? You just nod off while leaning on your hand and then zzzzing! you feel rested and alert. I wish I knew how to trigger those.

You fell asleep and managed to put it in gear?

:carl:
nope.

Yea, I was pretty damn alert and awake after that.

I was driving an automatic at the time (I hate automatics now ><)

Don't get me wrong, I love napping, especially with my GF. And yes, I do feel refreshed, but only after like 30 minutes of having woken up.

Anytime between then, and I'm still shaky from sleeping.
