I just got a free iPod touch for renewing my lease for another 12 months. I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty cool. It's only the 8 gig one, of course, but my old 30 gig iPod video got a bit of water splashed on it over the summer (god damn it I hate apple products) and was instantly ruined. So...anything free is nice. Anyone else have one of these? Know any cool applications I should get?

Edit: I just wish the thing supported flash and I'd be in love.

i got a 32gb one for christmas/anniversary. all i can say is its awesome. as far as apps go, the only ones i have are the pandora app and parlingo(IM app), both for when i'm in a wireless hotspot, obviously. parlingo kinda sucks cause it doesnt support rotation so you get the tiny version of the keyboard only. and pandora is almost as awesome as on your PC/whatever.

I also got mine for free (from my company -- I think they got them for clients or something and had some extras left over :awesome:). It is indeed awesome. Mine is jailbroken (and the resulting apps I have are awesome), although I'm lazy so it's still running iPhone OS 1.x.

I made my own theme because I was tired of rainbow pages on my phone.

I have iSlsk (which is discontinued by the author now as he's working on an upgraded version with a different name ... but I think you can still get it in the repository), which, as you might expect, is a Soulseek client that also can do music imports (so you can bypass iTunes entirely if you wish).

I also have AgileMessenger (IM cient), a Japanese-English dictionary, Terminal, Finder, and this hilarious app called "Flashlight" ("Turn your iPod touch into a flashlight!") that basically just turns the screen all white.

I've had a touch for about a year now. I love it.

I have one (the older one). I think it's great for holding a bunch of pictures and letting people flip through them. The apps like the web browser and email checker thing are really cool on-the-go. I've downloaded a few games as well. I don't really use it as a music player, though, I've found that the "random" won't stop repeating the same ~20 songs or so and it's also easier to just load 6 cds in my changer and let them go than fuss with the ipod -> fm or ipod -> cassette things. I think it would be better if my car stereo was new enough to have a real ipod connection port.

How are you posting screencaps of your iPhone? Is this functionality in the iPod touch?

As far as I know you still can't jailbreak the 2nd gen touch. They just finished the 3g unlock though, so maybe soon

I've yet to see a custom theme that looks better than the original.
