Looking back, there were some pretty hellish lighting errors here. But I thought it was the ****, and got freaked out by the cog where it looks like Dethmasta joins the game

I used to play mad SS3 up in this *****

I don't remember getting very far in this. I was pretty shocked at the beginning when the main character says "what a bunch of bull!"

ok now you go

I don't remember what the first level I downloaded was, but this was one of the earlier ones and I played it a LOT because it was the best place to try out new mods since it has all the weapons readily available and a bunch of stormtroopers and ATSTs you can spawn

To be honest, I don't have any idea when I started downloading levels from Massassi. In May 2001 I ended up in TACC and BoaMSE was one of the first I got.

As for the first JK level I ever downloaded, well, I have this itch it was Jedi Search and the place I got it from was JK Outpost which had a lot of levels that weren't available on Massassi or TACC. Come to think of it, I downloaded 5600 Block off that site just about the day it was released there and never bothered checking the readme for Massassi's address. Ha.

you expect me to remember something like that?

I have no idea... I think I downloaded it from TACC, maybe it was that one where you are Luke and you go around the dune say and go to a tusken base? I'm sure I downloaded maps before that, but I can't remember.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I feel like it had to be Empire Night Club or Jedi High School, but honestly, I'm not sure.

Hmm, apparently I downloaded BoamSE on July 15th 2001 (wow my birthday) and One Rebel's Sacrifice 1-9 on May 30th... makes sense, since ORS 1-3 was one of the last JK levels I played in 1999 before stopping to play the game until 2001.

Heh. C@rni.

I also found all the levels I had backed up in 2000 with a great bunch of JK Outpost stuff that I haven't seen elsewhere since... I kind of remember Mission to Dante Four being good but don't remember the rest.

Yeah, I'd have to go with JHS or Empire Nightclub too.

Empire Nightclub for me too I believe.

I don't think I ever downloaded anything from here.
nope.

Empire Night Club. It was all the rage during the early days of the zone.

I remember getting both Purgatory and Dralloc Mall way back when. I'm sure they weren't the first levels I downloaded, but they were pretty close.

All of Beefcaike's levels were always awesome.

I remember downloading some retooled jk levels, I think Jeff Walters did them, or someone else. That was back when Jed was a steaming pile and ForceBuilder seemed poised to be the editor of choice (at least by me - talk about a failed prediction). But that wasn't from Massassi. Also, re: 5600 block, are you sure massassi existed at the time I released that? For sure 6000 but I'm not so sure about 5600. Also, there is a level I released prior to 5600 but I refuse to give out it's name. It was really bad. (of course it was bad, it was my first level)
2009-01-17, 11:15 AM #19
Hm! Apparently the first time I downloaded 5600 Block was on October 31st 1998 6:25 PM and the readme had http://www.as.net/~redone as your homepage address.

Blimey, I'm fairly sure Massassi was on some level's readme file back in 1998 and I just noticed it until 2006 or something. Oh well! :|

Massassi existed then. But IIRC it was just a crappy forum and some tutorials attached to another site. Jedinights, maybe.

Yeah, it was Jedinights, and the forum was WWWBoards. *shudder*

Ouch, that was a long time ago...
Maybe One Rebels Sacrifice or some level by Matthew Pate.

Well, the files inside the zip were dated from February 1998 so I guess JKOutpost just sucked or something.

(Ooh, and I guess the reason why Mission to Dante Four was never released elsewhere because it was for JK and it had MotS resources in it! Ha! poor UGGBOOT)

One of the best saber levels for JK IMO. I've had countless memories in there.

Yea dude my dad played JK with me in that level too. Once we got ambitious and played the Instagib mod in it with another friend of mine. Three way Instagib in a tiny forest with lots of cover proved to be hilarious and very entertaining.

From time to time we still play Jedi Outcast, but it is clear now that I have mastered him, and I am probably 3x better now. Before we'd constantly end in a tie, and the games were hilarious. Now, the score is like 30-2 my favor.

He gets lucky sometimes :P

The only thing I can remember downloading was BFP2x, and I remember hosting that on my webspace I got with Blueyonder because the site was down.

Eight meg on 56k? Oh, the days.

I obviously downloaded many other maps, but I'll be damned if I remember the order I got them.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I think it was something involving a Canyon Oasis "remake" but I couldn't figure out how to install it.

Actor's Oasis used to freak me the hell out. For some reason.

Dralloc levels were fun.

Drazen was a goddamn blast at times.

Emon's Space Noxx (2?) was pretty hella fun.

Area 21 was neato, but too big, really. Same goes for Purgatory.

For some reason, Mantice RPG was fun -_-.

Jawa Dwelling SE. Mmm.

and Wolfy's JK movies :( :).

:awesome:

I don't remember the first one I downloaded. Probably something that someone in a Zone room linked to. I remember Drazen Isle being one of the early important ones, though.

I just remember playing it sometime after I was really playing JK a lot, and it was pretty awesome. Wasn't it based on a UT level or something?
2009-01-18, 2:26 PM #39
It IS a UT level.

I just remember alot of people *****ing because it was all 3do or something. I thought it was a great level though.

On that note, dark tempest levels were fun, until you reached the negatives from constantly falling off.
