We didn't invent aluminum, we discovered a way of obtaining it much easier and cheaper than previous methods, causing an explosion in aluminum use.

ACH! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! THIS!

We had to endure this periodically in a Chemistry video once. There were cool bits with caesium being thrown into bowls of water and then this friggin' song kept coming up!

Haha... I love this song.

And Darmstadtium is element 110, named after the city in Germany where it was discovered.

Oh, err...I didn't know we did anything to aluminum...I was just making stuff up. I guess I learned something.

You have to admit though, them working though Group I dropping little chunks into water was great.

"Here's Lithium" *very pathetic fizzing*
"and Sodium" *bang!*
"and Caesium" *KABOOM! SPLASH! (bowl 'splodes outwards in all directions)*

I'd love to see them doing it with Francium, but I think it's either some sort of radioactivity problem or that it's so reactive it's pretty much gone the moment you expose it to air - I dunno, maybe some of the Chemistry bods can help me.

Hurrah for violent hydrogen-based reactions caused by rapid reaction between an alkali metal and water!

Francium is so reactive that when they make it it reacts with the moisture in the air, so there arent any pics of it, and i heard the song a year ago in chemistry, and aluminum is spelt aluminium, pronounce it right! Damn Yanks with your trashcans, and garbage, and sidewalks and bruce forsyth

If I ever find a new elememt, I'm going to name it "Massassium." It would be so damn radioactive and illogically put together that it will destroy eyes that look upon it and make Baby Jesus cry.

that video (i think it was that one, did it end with talking about element 109?) was also seen by me.
