so the monday night winter storm that was supposed to give us 5-10" of snow was pure ice
tuesday throughout the day and especially into the night the weight of the ice was too much for many of the trees (and we got that snow we were supposed to get the night before)

tuesday night along with the ice we had lightning and because of the tree limbs cracking from the weight of the ice we also had power lines getting taken out including one that sparked brightly and set a tree on fire one street over (then sparked bigtime a few minutes later... it was beautiful as seen from the view i had from my front door)

at the moment i am running on a generator and many local businesses are closed due to power failure

this is my street this morning... there are other places with even more damage to the trees

We were supposed to get 1-2 inches of ice/snow, but all we got is about 1/8 of an inch of ... water? We're home from school, but the roads appear fine. Not sure what's going on anymore...

That's miserable... We only got a thin layer of ice here, and people are going crazy over it. Driving 20mph and whatnot in 60mph zones. Bah I say.

We got about a 1/4 inch of ice covering everything. City and Schools shut down. I'm pretending to be a bear.

Man I *just* car my car back in time for the snow ban, yey!!
City parking doesn't open till 5, so it's going to be that much worse than then, and I get to walk like a mile back to my apartment.
I'll be sure to take pictures on the way, I will update later.

Oh, they have parking bans when it snows, so plows can clear the roads. You obviously don't live where it snows
Wow, I suck at taking pictures. They all turned out like crap, so here's a crappy view of my courtyard.

We got 4-5 inches of snow, then probably half an inch of ice on top of that. Then we had rain and more freezing rain before it finally turned back into a bit of snow. Right now, it's not doing anything. My university closed the campus yesterday and then today at 2, as well. Strange thing.

I we got about 3 inches of snow, a layer of ice and then about 5 inches of snow on top of that. It was murder trying to clear my driveway. Luckily, I work at a school and am burning some sick days since they canceled school for yesterday, today and tomorrow.

We're forecasted for 24 inches.
woot!

I hope school is canceled again tomorrow because I am not planning on doing my homework...It's a mix of freezing rain and snow right now, with 15 inches estimated. So it's a pretty good call,

School's canceled here. Means I don't have to work. 3 days of vacation! W00T!

We were supposed to have an ice storm last night and the school was supposed to be shut down. I knew it wasn't going to happen because the temperature was never supposed to drop below 31 (not cooling the ground enough for ice), but it was still pretty disappointing when I woke up this morning and had to go to class.
