I play video games pretty much all day long. I can play the most graphic-intensive games with all settings on high and still have processor cycles to spare. It's a nuisance throughout the day, having to worry about keeping my computer fed with enough tasks to keep it busy. At night, I have to leave Folding@Home running when I go to sleep or I have no choice but to get up and play another full round of Crysis. Literally everyone around me, even people with decently good computers, are able to peg all their processor cores with Folding while I'm ready to encode a bunch of HD video or play a game at high resolution.
It's 2 months old, has NEVER been defragged or scanned for viruses, has a q9550 processor, 8 gigs of RAM, and a Radeon HD 4870X2. I'm making this post out of frustration from laying in bed wasting processor cycles the last hour and a half trying to sleep before finally accepting the fact that I'll never sleep unless I get my *** back up and play some video games or something.
Does this sound normal? I know everybody says...."ahh, computers that powerful, they never stop crunching numbers..." but damn. I can genuinely say this has a borderline negative/depressing effect on my life. Is there such a thing as a disorder....?
