I'm looking at the iFlip right now because it's what I can afford (100 -180 MAX).

Either that, or I might dish out some extra cash and go for a Canon Powershot for the video.

I don't really plan on doing anything serious, but I do want quality to be fairly decent.

Don't waste your money on something you'll use a handful of times because it's neat then shelf.

flips are pretty cheap, you can find one for like $80 at walmart i think.

You can get a Flip Mino for about $180.

whats the quality of the speakers on the flips?

It's a general crappy builtin speaker, like all camcorders of that price range.
