PSA: Cheap HD DVDs

For those of us who have a way to play them...here's a way to expand the HD collection for less money than DVDs from WalMart's bargain bin!

Yeah, HD is going the way of betamax, blah blah...but I think my drive will be around for a while. If not, HDs are getting cheaper by the month, so I'll just rip them. :neckbeard:

Quote:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind [HD DVD]
Shooter [HD DVD]
Serenity [HD DVD]
The Fast and the Furious [HD DVD]
2 Fast 2 Furious [HD DVD]
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (Combo HD DVD and Standard DVD) [HD DVD]
The Mummy [HD DVD]
The Mummy Returns [HD DVD]
Transformers (Two-Disc Special Edition) [HD DVD]
U-571 [HD DVD]

Total $54.23 shipped. :awesome:

They have BSG Season 1 and Heroes Season 1 also..and pages of anime stuff that I just skipped over.

I haven't watched it yet..something I should pick up?

I can get the UK edition on Bluray for about $36.

Edit: Blah, I bought it. Might as well..I've heard good things about the UK version, too.

Wouldn't that .. not work on your player though?

mmm I've always been tempted to pick up a HD DVD for my Xbox (Well, I've only had it for a short while)

They are pretty cheap now, if can get one for like 50 bucks if you find the right deal. I might ... I might ...

Naw, no HDMI output. I didn't know laptops came with them. And mine is from 2003/4 so it definitely doesn't have one :P

Though .. The Xbox HD DVD uses a USB cable ... If I could figure a way to get my laptop to output from the USB, that would work. I think I could actually use this (Though the slot is on the bottom of my computer, so I would have to build like a stand for it so it would always be slanted upward).
Those flat wide cables... (Don't know what they are called, but I remember from the time I had a desktop as a kid that I used them to install CD players)

Would that work?

Your laptop should have at the very least VGA out

Absolutely. It's a great low-key movie to watch when just relaxing. It's also nice because you can stop and start as needed without missing out on anything.
