For anyone that's interested, Goldeneye Source beta 3 is being released today around 8pm EST [that's in an hour from now!], which is looking a lot better than the last release.

ie. It actually looks like goldeneye with slightly faster running. :P

I'd post some recent media from it but they're running a temporary website at the moment after the last 2 beta releases taking the site out with visitor traffic.

nope.

Yeah, I have been looking forward to this for a long time. The mod seemed pretty much dead after a year or so of inactivity. I was really surprised when they had that update a few days ago. Definitely going to be trying this out tonight.

You're not supposed to have jumping in Goldeneye!
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

It looks like goldeneye. It has goldeneye music. But that's where the similarity ends. It plays like... well. Half Life 2. Also the enemies all run around like idiots.

Which looks better than the original Goldeneye combat. Despite being innovative at the time, gunplay and combat felt and looked clumsy and awkward.

I was just playing it on the official server (a few devs playing it). Fun fun! :)

It's actually really great, and to get an even closer feel to the original play "You Only Live Twice" mode and it's a lot less frantic.

Their interpretation of Complex is absolutely amazing. They have a few levels where they took their own creative license with the original maps, but then they include "Classic" versions which are basically exact replicas except with better textures.

My only complaint is that some of the player models look absolutely ridiculous, and the running animations are very strange. It's almost as if their legs are running twice as fast as they actually are, and they kind of glide through the air. Other than that, I think it's superb.

Ok after I finally managed to get a chance to play for a few hours I have to say I've probably had more fun with it in the last 3 hours than I have in the last 3 weeks with L4D.

The last 2 or 3 releases were ok but like JM said they were more like HL2, but they've almost nailed the gameplay with this. It feels like goldeneye only on a larger scale and a little more slick.
nope.

Wow the installer takes as much space as TODOA!

The installer extracts a ZIP, then extracts the files from the ZIP.

Dummmmb.

So it takes about a gigabyte then?

... or maybe I should just test it myself. Shelf.
