How many generations of your family have you known in your life?

I'm curious after speaking with my flatmates about it and whilst some of their grandparents died whilst they were young or before they were born, I knew about half of my Great-Grandparents, and theres still one member of that generation of my family still alive - My great-great-aunt.

How much of your family have you known?

:hist101:
nope.

Nothing about grand-grandparents, most of my grandparents died before I was born and until I was like 2 - so only my grandfather from father's side, my parents and after them my sister's children and her oldest child's children.

I have 3 great grandparents that are still alive and doing pretty well. I see them pretty regularly, as they only live 30 minutes away.

I also have a handful of great great aunts/uncles.

I don't know anything about my father's side of the family, so there's an entire branch that could be alive or dead.

I knew my grandma on my mother's side and both my grandparents on my father's side. My grandpa on my mother's side died when I was very little.

Now all that's left is my grandma on my father's side. :(

Great granny nanny was probably the oldest, being mum's mum's mum. I think.

She died, unsurprisingly.

There's probably a few others around that age still kicking around, but damned if I've even seen most of my extended family outside of a big piece of paper.

Is it wrong to think that your cousin is hot if you didn't meet her till you were like 17?

On my mum's side they don't seem to have kids till they're quite old. My maternal grandmother was born in 1910 or there abouts, so it was almost impossible for me to have met my great-grandparents.

To put this in perspective, my grandmother was roughly of the queen mother's generation, therefore you could argue that I'm of the same generation as Prince Charles yet he's 60 and I'm 23. ****ing royals, breeding like common rabbits :P

I don't think there's anything wrong with admitting that a relative is attractive. Having sex with her would be bad though.

As far as I know, my great-grandparents were dead before I was born.

Parents & grand parents.
Technicaly I have met one of my great grand parents cause there's a photo of me as a baby with one of them. But I don't remember it being that was less than a year old or something.

I don't even know my third cousins. I don't even know what a third cousin is.

3rd cousins means you share a Great-Grandparent. I happen to live in the same area that my family originally settled in over 200 years ago. I know a lot of family members, dating is hell. So I don't.
