Unlike our favorite bird/river scenario, this one actually resulted in casualties.

Somebody in my counterstrike clan that I've known for years just posted this on our forum when it happened. They live just 5 minutes up the road apparently from when it happened and heard the noise, etc.

It makes me nervous as **** to read this stuff all the time because I'm already afraid of heights and flying in planes, and my girlfriend leaves for Hong Kong in 3 days. :(

oh wow. :(

Temp: AFAIK airplanes are actually safer than cars. If that helps. I believe there are some statistics that show this.

Thank you for the reassurance. I am well aware though that planes are much safer forms of travel than pretty much anything out there statistically, but it's just a fear I have.

The kicker is that I've been on a plane twice in my life before, 4 hours to Mexico and 4 hours back. I know I'm weird.

I'll be on a plane tomorrow.

I felt sorry for the women who lost her husband in 9/11 and had the terrible misfortune to be on that plane...

Will there be a point in time when blackboxes will capture video?

If you believe in afterlife, one could say that she finally gets to see him again.

I believe this is grammatically incorrect.

This reminds me.

I wonder if history will remember it as a terrible irony that only 7 years after the September 11th attacks we would have been praising someone for destroying a financial building.

Some poor sap is just sitting in his house when a plane crashes into him. WTF.

I don't have a fear of flying. I have a fear of flying and then suddenly not flying.

Those statistics are skewed.

One: It only uses American data
Two: There are far more flights than you think
Three: They count all the GA planes, where the plane crashes aren't always fatal.

Quit the bickering.

NewKid has been infracted for trolling. Infractions add up and (repeated trolling is "worth" more than most) and lead to bans.

Stop it.

I watch a fair amount of 'Air Crash Investigation', really good show if you have somewhat of an interest in aviation and aren't fussed by the idea of your next interstate commute careering out of the sky. Really amazing, the sheer number of things that can go wrong to make an aeroplane crash.

the weather here was very bad at the time of the incident, i was just going to bed then, didnt hear about it until morning
