Anyone have a high-end AGP card that will run under a 450watt PS they want to sell?

How high-end <_< I have a very gently used Radeon 9700 Pro which was top-of-the-line when I got it ...

is the 6600 gt faster than fx 5900? I had a 6x00 (can't remember) I got off ebay but it lasted 6 months before dying... *sigh*

I wouldn't expect the 6600GT to be faster than a FX 5900 just because usually the mid-range cards of the next generation don't outstrip the high-end cards of the previous generation. I totally wasn't keeping track of the cards back then, though, so I don't know.

The 5x00 series of cards, however, were absolutely god-awful, especially in DX9. Those were the cards that were so bad that Valve actually released press releases about how they would force the cards to run in DX8 mode on their engine because they were so poorly designed.

My DVI port stoped working, but the fan was so damn loud! The fan itself has some play and it would cause it to hit the heat sink.

But basically all I want is the ability to play HL2/TF2 on high/very high settings (2gigs 2.2ghz amd, I used to play it on med to high), and component (RBG) out. Someone on craigslist is selling a HIS 3850 for $110 and it's tempting but I don't know if I wanna pay that much for such an out dated system.

My 8500GT can't play L4D on high without an OC .( (the shaders kill it)

my 7800GS can play L4D on almost high (effects on medium and no AA)

your 8500GT must be full of fail

it is full of fail. I think I read that it was weaker than a 7600GS.

With shaders on medium and everything else on high 2xMSAA I can get 40-60FPS. With shaders on high it's like 20fps unless I OC it like +225/550 core/shader (and then it averages 30fps which makes it playable). Luckily it OCs pretty well.

Stupidly enough if I OC it that much I can get like 17fps on FC2 Med-High. Go figure.

My ATI HD4870 can run L4D on everything high, AA at 16x, and FSAA at 4x, 60fps. :D

The fan on mine quit working, so I ripped it from the heatsink with pliers and zip tied a fan from an old xbox onto it. Keeps pretty cool now, but god is it loud. :P
