You suck. Just play it more. Once you learn the maps and the choke points (like with most FPSes), you'll become much better. Plus, with 9 classes, you really have to understand the nuances of each one to understand at a glance how to best survive a situation (whether to charge, to run, to make a trap, etc).

Wow that's a steal. The orange box isnt really worth it. I can GIVE you Episode one if you already have HL2. Portal is already $10 isnt it?

Id say out of the whole Orange Box, TF2 and Portal are the main attractions.

The other games on the orange box you can play on a friend's computer. This is the only one you really need to buy.

Geez, how old IS your PC? Source runs on practically anything made in the past 6 years!

Portal is $20 so TF2 + Portal = price of Orange Box :(

I don't have HL2 and I kinda wanted to play thru all of the Episodes too (playing a ton of old RPGs has gotten me back into liking SP games)

Every other source game runs fine.
TF2 just hates me, I guess.
It takes about 20 minutes to load and it's impossibly slow after it does.

I want the source mods and Ep2..can't bring myself to pay for them separately, and I don't need the entire Orange box. .(

I already have it installed on the Massassi server but I don't see a purpose in it since I know it won't be full for more than a couple hours a week.

The Orange Box is so cheap though ($30) ... and who knows if you'll feel like messing around with the other Orange Box games at some point.

I think I've decided to either buy TF2 on Friday then buy the Orange Box later down the line and gift TF2 to somebody, or to just buy the Orange Box on Friday.

The new spy "backstabbing mechanics" are questionable. It's seems the range of effectiveness has been significantly downsized. Playing spy against laggy players and fast moving classes such as Scout and Pyro is a pain. Getting to engineers who camp with their backs to the wall are becoming more of a problem as of late.

Hmm

I had a ton of fun when it first came out and nobody knew what they were doing

Then I came back like a year later and it sucked because everyone else had gotten way better and I was still a noob

I practiced some and it's kind of fun again though

Eh just cloak, get on their heads (easy if they're near their dispenser or sentry) decloak on top of them, turn the direction they're facing and backstab ftw. :D Even if someone else sees you you will probably still get the kill (unless it's a pyro).

2009-02-26, 3:42 AM #22
That's the thing. Jumping on someone's head and stabbing doesn't register as a backstab anymore. So if someone's back is against something, a backstab won't register.

Although the other spy additions are nice. And the stabbing motions are slightly quicker. It's just the lessened range is bothering me. :(

I think there is a hack about that allows people to see cloaked spys. I've been in a couple of servers recently where people will blatantly blast me while cloaked in an area they shouldnt be just randomly blasting.

I tried to get into it, but I just couldn't.
Something about the shooting... Hard to explain, but it doesn't 'feel' right.
You can't judge a book by it's file size

It's the typical wallhack. It'll show where you are, where you're going, what your health is, and distance, just as it does for any other player, visible or not.

One time I was a sniper defending the first point on Badwater and I see this spy get one of my teammates. Attempting to get away he cloaks and disguises at the same time, but I fire up the scope and lead my aim a bit from where the smoke was and BOOM HEADSHOT!

Killing invisible spies with an accidental rocket or something is always fun but this was intentional - my greatest TF2 shot ever! Wish I still had the game and time to play.

Also, are you guys saying there's no more sidestab?

This only reinforces the point that I shouldn't buy Steam games for anything over 20 bucks.

Actually you basically want to shoot everybody. Shoot the other team for kills, shoot your team for spychecks.
