Am I crazy for wanting to pay for internet when I already get it free?

At a friend's house installing some Steam games at 1.65MB/sec. I get about 180KB/sec at home.

$19.95/3mo and then $42.95 will get me a 15Mbps line (probably what this one is?). I'm very tempted to look into it.
woot!

Depends if you'll actually use those speeds often. If not, then you are crazy.

1.71MB now.

Not to mention the 23ms ping I got from speedtest.net. Oh, and upload is significantly faster than my home download speed...wouldn't have to wait forever for photos/etc..
woot!

Paying extra every month for bandwidth so you can download your Steam library faster is a lot like paying extra every month for water pressure so you can fill your swimming pool faster.

Plus not needing to wait for Hulu to buffer if I'm trying to look at websites at the same time...faster Amazon MP3 downloads...Zunepass if I go for it...better ping in games, and no roommate complaining that the connection is slow when I'm doing stuff.

How fast is your connection?
woot!

Try going back to 1.5Mbps and see how it is... .(

It's more like paying extra for water so when you take a shower and your roommate washes the dishes, you don't lose pressure and have cold water. :P

If I could get 1.5Mbps for free, I'd go back for sure. I pay 80 bucks a month for 10mbit because so many people in my house use it, but mostly for the upload.

What the ****.

For your $50 I only get the damn 1.5Mbps here. :argh:

But I could probably go with fios now. :D

For less than the equivalent of $50 we have 10Mbps cable in the flat.

:v:
nope.

I pay about $40 equivalent for 24mbps (no bandwidth caps).

I was on 1.5 up until December and I was fine with it. The only reason I have 5 now is because I switched to cable TV from satellite.
